According to a study at Indiana University Health, 10% of women in the US have scoliosis compared to only 5% of men.  Another study by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons found that idiopathic scoliosis occurs 10x more often in females over the age of 10. Spinal stenosis refers to the narrowing of the spinal canal and resulting compression of the spinal cord or spinal nerves. This is usually caused by normal wear-and-tear changes in the spine related to arthritis and brought on as you age.

Symptoms often associated with Spinal Stenosis are:
•Pain or cramping in one or both legs, the back and buttocks
•Sciatica (burning in the buttocks and lower extremities)
•Tingling, numbness, and/or weakness

These symptoms are worsened when you walk or stand for a long period of time. They often improve when you bend forward or sit.
