This year I’m so fiercely and unapologetically fighting for better care for people living with obesity. To completely normalize the weight care experience and teach providers how to respectfully engage with clients seeking to take care of their health from any starting point. It’s been an amazing break. So reflective of everything I’ve done so far: building a business completely from scratch, now serving hundreds of clients per month and shaping what my ideal patient population really looks like. Obesity medicine is so important to me because I am indebted to the philosophy of second chances. Time and time again there are so many times in my own life I should have failed, in fact many times I literally did fail and still to this day having no idea how each time I come out of those experiences even further ahead. I’m convinced it’s because my mission is bigger than me. I’m proud and I’m fired up to have an amazing provider on my team and this year our company is laser focused on the one and only target: normalizing obesity medicine and dismantling years worth of guilt, shame, frustration around body image expectations (sometimes projected by providers 😭💔👩🏽‍⚕️ nonetheless) and the stigma of “healthy living” on a national level. PSA from ur friendly neighbor dietitian: you CAN eat that.
- it’s time to listen to your hunger cues
- it’s time to eat until a satiating feeling of fullness
- it’s time to not judge yourself for every choice you make at meal time
- it’s time to see your energy level surge because you no longer feel ruled by food rules
- it’s time to feel *the best* u have ever felt in all eating scenarios (Especially eating out!)
Start by aiming for 3 to 4 eating times per day.
At each meal time imagine having exactly what would satisfy you the most
Work towards using the to eat until a 7/8 of fullness then stop
Repeat at each meal setting until desired result of happiness and confidence is achieved ✨🌈🍴

How to be genuinely happy at the dinner table (holiday edition):

- Turn off the phone
- Avoid counting erroneous data or dissecting every last ingredient
- Completely abandon the idea that foods are good or bad
- Believe your worthiness started the minute you took your first breath, not by how you built your plate
- Stop thinking you need to do anything to “earn” the right to eat or consume food
- Say something positive about your eating experience out loud
- Have empathy for others who are still imprisoned by food (they will be at the table and they will not be happy)
- At all costs shield yourself away from being cornered into food judging conversations using disengaging language like “yea I’m not sure!” then change the subject.
- Count your blessings
Last, if you’re struggling to have a happy relationship with food, find confidence in the fact that you’re not alone and that there is always a way out.

This just in: “you’re still healthy when the plate isn’t half full of veggies.” 🎉
Lately I’ve been discussing the principles of mental flexibility with clients specifically around building a “healthy” plate.
Mental flexibility is one of the 4 key components of dialectical behavior therapy, an approach designed for overcoming binge eating cycles.
This flexibility is a core skill for embracing that a variety of options can all be “right”, rather than seeing food as black & white.
You can start this by setting up guidelines for what you would want in a perfect environment. In this case maybe it’s a plate half full of veggies. The next step is thinking of 2 or 3 situations where this may not be an option and creating a few reasonably alternative plans that still align with your outcome (eating more produce during the week).
Skill building is essential for dissolving disordered binge eating patterns and feeling freedom around all types of foods while still taking steps to prevent chronic disease.

Time to Take Your Life Back!!🎉🔥🌸
This year has been wild!! I feel like in 9 months I‘ve lived 5 years (who can relate?).
One thing I’ve learned through it all is how to step into my power. How to lean into my failures, my weaknesses, my flaws and use them to present the highest, strongest, happiest version of me.
I also realized I’ve been helping people in clinic do this for so long, it never dawned on me that so many of us are fighting battles that require certain tools to overcome.
The fatigue, low energy, daily stress, scattered plans, life uncertainties, communication breakdowns and more.
Searching desperately for that “final fix”, throwing in all of this energy and getting nothing in return, don’t know why it’s not working, in the end just flat out exhausted.
I get it. I’ve been there, in those moments. I’ve also successfully coached 100’s of women through it.

She serves as the medical supervisor for our Weight Loss Director and pharmacology side of the practice and brings so much knowledge regarding hormone and thyroid health specifically for women!!
As we work with women reviewing comprehensive lab work to uncover the root cause of various symptoms, we have various avenues for how to address them including medications, nutrition and hormone replacement therapy such as !
