🌟 September Featured Family: The Readys 🌟
For more than 40 years, the Ready family has called Balcones home. From raising their three children here to now enjoying life as “Pops and Lovey” to their four grandsons, Bill and Devlin Ready have poured their hearts into this community.
Their love story began at Baylor University, where Bill proposed just three months after meeting Devlin. Married in 1977, they soon planted roots here in 1983, raising Ferrin, Ashley, and Weston in the neighborhood schools that remain close to Devlin’s heart after her 34-year career in education.
The Readys’ life here has been shaped by hard work, deep faith, and a devotion to family. Devlin spent decades teaching and tutoring local children, while Bill built a career in construction and is now known around the neighborhood as the “Bronco guy,” always ready to lend a hand.
From camping trips and lake days to Christmas traditions like hot chocolate and neighborhood light tours, the Readys find joy in simple moments together. Their Little Free Library, gifted by Devlin’s last class at Spicewood Elementary, continues to spread her lifelong love of reading throughout the neighborhood.
Through the years, they’ve given back in countless ways - volunteering, helping neighbors, and keeping community traditions alive. As Devlin puts it best: “It’s home. This is where we raised our children, made lifelong friends, and built a life rooted in faith and family. We’ve worked hard to be here, and we never plan to leave.”
