Will insurance cover my surgery? In this case, Yes! Our lovely 79-year-old patient was referred to Dr. Vikram D. Durairaj for her concerns regarding the laxity and hooding of her upper eyelid skin that was interfering with her vision. She has been manually lifting her lids or elevating her forehead to see better. The excess droopy skin was limiting her daily activities, including reading and driving. Dr. Durairaj, performed a Bilateral Upper Blepharoplasty at our onsite surgery center. The postop photo was taken at only three weeks postop, and she is absolutely delighted with her natural results. This Monday morning, Dr. Vikram D. Durairaj, Director of the ASOPRS (even-year program), along with 2nd-year Fellow Dr. Kendall Goodyear, were actively engaged in the operating room. Our Fellows benefit immensely from the expertise of our directors and preceptors.
Fellowship Opportunities at TOC Eye and Face
TOC Eye and Face offers two ASOPRS fellowship positions that focus on oculofacial plastic, orbit, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery, running concurrently. Both programs provide the same educational experience, with one position opening each July. Successfully completing the fellowship enables physicians to apply for membership in the ASOPRS Society.
TOC ASOPRS Program Directors:
• Dr. Sean Blaydon(odd-year program)
• Dr. Vikram Durairaj (even-year program)
Additionally, TOC offers a one-year AACS Certified Facial Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship. This program provides advanced education and training in the art of facial cosmetic surgery, supervised by Program Director Dr. Tanuj Nakra.

Thanks to the Merz Grant the TOC team was able teach the Dell Medical School Ophthalmology Residents about neurotoxins with a hands-on aspect involving Xeomin injections. The experience was both educational and empowering, as residents gained valuable insights into the science behind neurotoxins and their applications. The hands-on component allowed participants to engage directly with the material, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject.
A Special Thank you to Dr. Kendall Goodyear for applying for the Grant at Merz so this opportunity could happen. In a week, the whole group will be looking more rested when their Xeomin kicks in 😉

You’re Not Tired—It’s Ptosis!
Our patient was referred to Dr. Karen Brown after noticing that her left eyelid droopiness had progressively worsened over the past few years. She found herself frequently raising her brow to enhance her vision. After her comprehensive consultation, it was concluded that she would benefit from Bilateral Upper Blepharoplasty and Bilateral Ptosis Repair to achieve her desired results.
Three months post-surgery, her postoperative photo highlights her remarkable transformation while maintaining a natural appearance.
