["Learning To Drive" with Patricia Clarkson [R].] Most Saturday nights, you'll find us watching a popular movie here at the Center in a fun, informal atmosphere. Then we have a discussion. We don't discuss the movie, though; we discuss personal growth issues and themes that came up in the movie. So we're not doing a "Siskel and Ebert" type of review, but rather an in-depth personal growth process that helps us get to know ourselves and each other better. During the discussion we learn and practice essential communication skills like I-Statements and Open-Ended Questions, so that we can apply them more effectively in the rest of our lives. Each month there's a different general topic for the videos, ranging from Relationships to Overcoming Obstacles to Remarkable People. Come join us! Ages 18 and up. Free.

Techniques that involve the body in the process are fast and effective at helping those emotions to move through~ if you're scared, shake~ if you're sad, cry~ if you're angry, punch a pillow~ if you're overwhelmed, gently rock yourself~ and always remember to BREATHE 💓💗💓

💖HEALING through FEELING💖 We often hang on to painful emotions from past situations (such as anger, shame, or sadness), stuffing them down in the depths of our selves and going about our lives~ When the underlying discomfort starts to surface, we often try to numb it out rather than opening a conversation as to what it's about and what it's trying to tell us~ You can't heal what you don't feel! Allowing ourselves the space and acceptance to be with those negative/painful feelings, and to express them in a healthy manner, frees up our energy bodies to be filled with the positive emotions~ peace, Love, and Happiness 💓💗💓

Self care tip: 🌳GROUNDING🌳
Whether visualizing a grounding cord between you and the core of the earth in meditation, walking barefoot in the grass (also called earthing!), or sitting with your back up against a tree, you are helping to ground your energy back into your body and the present moment. Grounding calm/centers our nervous system, reduces physical pains, and improves sleep quality~Try it for 10 minutes a day for a week and see if you feel the difference 💚🙏💚
