When your child is struggling, no one sees how much you are carrying.

The sleepless nights. The endless appointments. The constant fight to be heard when every doctor’s visit feels like another chart, another prescription, another dismissal.

It can feel like you’re the only one truly fighting for your child.

That’s why I created Foundations in Functional Medicine for Autism.

This course was designed for parents who are searching for more than referrals and quick fixes. Inside, you’ll discover:

✔ A clear explanation of what’s happening inside your child’s body and brain

✔ How functional medicine uncovers root causes that traditional care often overlooks

✔ Practical steps you can start right now to support focus, mood, and resilience

And for families who want more support, you can bundle the course with one-on-one sessions with Alexis, our health coach. She specializes in walking parents through nutrition, routines, and practical strategies, so you’re not left figuring it all out alone.

You deserve answers you can trust and guidance you can use, so you don’t have to carry this weight alone.

As kids head back into soccer, football, and other contact sports, it’s important to recognize how vulnerable the developing brain is after impact.

Even “mild” concussions can cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, memory lapses, confusion, and sleep disruption.

A double-blind, placebo-controlled study in PLOS ONE investigated N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) in military service members with blast-related mild traumatic brain injury.

The results were striking: when NAC was given within 24 hours, 86% of participants had full symptom resolution by Day 7, compared to only 42% in the placebo group (Hoffer et al., 2013).

NAC works by replenishing glutathione, the brain’s most important antioxidant, helping to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation that occur after injury.

These same biological processes are active in sports-related concussions.

At Neuro Nutrients, our 800 mg NAC capsules are formulated to support healthy brain, immune, and detoxification pathways, designed with clinical precision for those who want research-backed support.

Your gut isn’t just about digestion, it’s your second brain.

Inside your gut lives a vast community of bacteria, fungi, and other microbes.

Together, they produce neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, influence inflammation, and even shape how resilient your nervous system feels under stress.

When the gut is balanced → mood feels steadier, focus comes easier, and energy lasts longer.

When the gut is inflamed or imbalanced → brain fog, anxiety, low mood, and fatigue often follow.

This connection is called the gut-brain axis.

And it’s why supporting gut health is one of the most powerful ways to support mental health.

At Neuronutrition, we look at both sides: nutrition, microbiome testing, inflammation markers, and lifestyle, all to help restore balance from the inside out.

If you’ve ever felt backed up or bloated after eating gluten, you’re not imagining it.

Constipation is one of the less-talked-about but very real ways gluten can impact gut health.

Here’s why it happens:

→ In people with celiac disease, gluten damages the small intestine, disrupting absorption and slowing motility.

→ Even without celiac, gluten sensitivity and IBS-like reactions can trigger inflammation in the gut, interfering with the signals that keep things moving.

→ And when switching to a “gluten-free” diet, many substitutes are highly processed and low in fiber, making constipation even worse.

The takeaway?

Constipation isn’t “just part of life.” It’s often a sign of deeper imbalance, whether that’s inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, or food sensitivities that need to be addressed.

At Neuronutrition, we look at the full picture, gut lining integrity, nutrient status, microbiome health, and lifestyle, so you can move beyond short-term fixes and actually feel well again.

Wow, what an incredible experience at the MedMAPS conference. ✨

It’s always inspiring to be in a room filled with clinicians, researchers, and colleagues who are just as passionate about advancing care for children with complex needs.

On Friday, I had the privilege of presenting twice:

→ Precision Medicine Panel on integrating genomics into clinical practice
→ Genomic Guided Medication Considerations for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Both talks highlighted something I see every day in practice: genetics matter.

When we understand how SNPs, methylation, neurotransmitters, and inflammation intersect, we can create safer, more effective treatment strategies for children and families who often feel out of options.

I’m leaving this conference energized, encouraged, and more committed than ever to bringing the latest science back into the hands of families.

Because every child deserves care that goes beyond symptom management—care that looks at the root causes and opens doors to real progress.

Your child’s gut health depends on more than just “good bacteria.”

The mucin layer, a protective coating of mucus inside the gut, is essential for healthy digestion, immunity, and even mood regulation.

When it’s strong:
→ Nutrients are absorbed more effectively
→ Pathogens are kept at bay
→ The gut microbiome flourishes

When it’s weak:
⤬ Inflammation rises
⤬ Food sensitivities develop more easily
⤬ Gut-brain communication suffers

Along with a nutrient-dense diet and stress support, supplements can play an important role.

That’s why we use Balanced Gut Support, a blend of nutrients and prebiotic fiber that strengthen the mucin layer, feed the microbiome, and protect gut integrity.

Because a healthy gut isn’t just about probiotics, it’s about the environment they live in.

Did you know your gut has a built-in protective barrier called the mucin layer?

This thin, gel-like coating lines the intestinal wall and acts as your body’s first line of defense.

It:
✔️ Keeps pathogens and toxins from directly touching the gut lining

✔️ Provides food for beneficial bacteria (your microbiome loves mucin!)

✔️ Supports immune balance and reduces unnecessary inflammation

When the mucin layer is compromised, through poor diet, chronic infections, stress, toxins, or certain medications, the gut becomes more permeable.

That’s where “leaky gut,” inflammation, and even autoimmunity can begin.

The good news?

Nutrition and lifestyle strategies can help rebuild and support a healthy mucin layer, giving your microbiome and immune system the foundation they need to thrive.

That’s why we formulated Balanced Gut Support, with nutrients and prebiotic fiber designed to nourish the mucin layer, restore gut integrity, and promote a healthier microbiome.

For years, people have worried that folate might “trigger mania.” A new randomized controlled trial says the opposite.

✔️ Folate reduced mania symptoms in hospitalized patients with bipolar I disorder.

✔️ 100% of patients in the folate group improved, compared to just 21% on placebo.

✔️ Even more compelling? The trial used synthetic folic acid—not the advanced forms like methylfolate or folinic acid, which work even better.

The takeaway:
→ Folate is not destabilizing, it has been proven clinically to be therapeutic.

→ B vitamin form matters. Outdated folic acid + pyridoxine are not recommended- they can be toxic and harmful.

→ Active forms (methylfolate, folinic acid, and P5P) bypass genetic blocks and support mood more effectively.

That’s why we created Complete Methylation Support, with the right forms of folate and B6 your body and brain actually need.

You’ve probably seen the recent headlines about SSRIs, and maybe even wondered what it means for you or someone you love.

Here’s my perspective: SSRIs are not “good” or “bad.”
They can sometimes be helpful, but only as part of a broader plan.

Depression and anxiety are complex, shaped by gut health, inflammation, genetics, trauma, thyroid function, and more.

In my practice, I always start with root causes first: nutrition, lifestyle, infections, genetics, thyroid, and environment.

If an SSRI is needed, we use it carefully, as a bridge toward stability, not a lifelong solution.

This is also personal for me. After the birth of my first child, I went through severe postpartum depression. Lexapro helped me through one of the darkest seasons of my life.

But it wasn’t the full answer.

Over time, exercise, better nutrition, and understanding my own genetic needs created long-term stability. Today, instead of medication, I use a personalized compounded vitamin.

That’s why I believe patients deserve context, collaboration, and choice.
Not shame. Not rushed prescriptions. And not fear.

📍 I share more of my story and the science behind it in my latest blog—https://neuronutritionassociates.com/beyond-the-headlines-what-were-missing-in-the-ssri-conversation/.

My dear friend, Katie has been busy in the kitchen making her own Lactobacillus reuteri yogurt, and here’s why it matters.

Yogurt made with L. reuteri is exponentially more potent than any probiotic you’ll find on store shelves.

This strain has some of the strongest evidence for kids and families: soothing colic, easing constipation, supporting immune balance, and even reducing daycare-related infections.

We love seeing families like Katie’s bring this research to life at home. ✨

For a deep dive on the science, check out ’s recent podcast episode 214 with Dr. William Davis, who helped bring L. reuteri into the spotlight. It’s a must-listen for anyone interested in gut health and probiotics.
