Earlier this month, the Healthier Texas Summit was hosted with the goal to provide participants with practical strategies, fresh ideas, and renewed energy to advance health in their communities.

Amy Einhorn, Program Director, and Kim McPherson, Senior Program Officer, shared their insights and learnings from two long-standing projects seeking to improve community health.

Kim’s panel discussion “From Pilot to Policy: Direct Cash in Austin,” alongside partners from UpTogether and the City of Austin, discussed how Austin became the first city in Texas to include guaranteed income in its city budget. The session highlighted the role of philanthropy, research, and municipal leadership in driving sustainable policy change and improving community health through direct cash support.

Amy moderated a discussion in partnership with Episcopal Health Foundation, “Multi-Sector Collaboration: Stories and Reflections from Five Years of TACHI,” where panelists from Bastrop County Cares, United Way for Greater Austin, and Texas A&M Health Science Center reflected on five years of deep, cross-sector collaboration through the Texas Accountable Communities Health Initiative (TACHI).

Gatherings like the Healthier Texas Summit remind us why cross-sector collaboration is essential to advancing health equity across our region. Thank you to all who joined us in the conversation!

We are honored to be recognized as the 2025 Community Champion of the Year by the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at this year’s Celebrando Gala.

Receiving this award during Hispanic Heritage Month made the moment especially meaningful as we reflected on the tremendous contributions, culture, and strength of the Hispanic community in Central Texas.

At St. David’s Foundation, we are committed to supporting communities with the greatest health needs today—while investing in a healthier, more equitable tomorrow for generations to come. This recognition reaffirms the importance of that work and the power of collaboration in building a healthier, more equitable region.

Thank you to the GAHCC for this incredible honor and to everyone who celebrated with us. ¡Estamos agradecidos!

At St. David’s Foundation, we are committed to building a vibrant and inclusive Central Texas where every individual has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

A key part of that commitment is listening—regularly and intentionally. Our staff engage directly with community members across the region to better understand their experiences, priorities, and challenges. Every three years, we formally gather these insights to shape our Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). Findings from the CHNA help us to deepen our understanding of regional issues, guide our investments, and shape strategies in close collaboration with the community.

We invite you to explore our latest CHNA to get a better understanding of our region's top health needs, a look at our Central Texas population, and the areas facing the greatest health challenges:

Today, St. David’s Foundation announced $11.6M in grant funding to 44 Central Texas organizations providing community-informed maternal and mental health support.

The focus and goals of these funding opportunities were informed by insights from previous work, conversations with our community and grant partners, alignment with our strategic plan, and mission to advance health equity.

Both funding opportunities — "Healthy Births, Healthy Communities" and "Culturally Responsive Mental Health Support" — focused on building the capacity of healthcare infrastructure to provide high-quality, culturally responsive care in Central Texas.

“By supporting community-rooted partners, we’re not only expanding culturally responsive care beyond clinic walls – we’re also learning from those closest to the work, whose insights can shape how clinical providers can better serve marginalized communities.” - Regan Gruber Moffitt, VP of Community Investments

We’re working hard to make Central Texas the healthiest community in the world.

St. David’s Foundation is one of the largest health foundations in the United States, funding $70 million annually in a five-county area surrounding Austin, Texas. Through a unique partnership with St. David’s HealthCare, a Malcolm-Baldrige award-winning hospital system in Central Texas, the foundation reinvests proceeds from the hospital system back into the community, with a goal of building the healthiest community in the world. St. David’s Foundation also operates the largest mobile dental program providing charity care in the country, and runs the largest healthcare scholarship program in Texas.

The foundation’s strategic priorities include:

· Providing Central Texans with the healthiest care in the world,

· Creating the healthiest places for Central Texans to live, and
