For those going themselves or for family and friends getting prepared to attend the ACL music festival, St. David's HealthCare would like to remind you of a few tips to ensure a safe event!

• Stay cool: Hydrate with water/electrolytes, limit alcohol, find shade, and use a cooling rag. Seek help at medical tents if you feel weak, dizzy, or nauseous.
• Protect your skin: Reapply high-SPF sunscreen every 1–2 hours and wear UV-protective clothing and hats.
• Stay aware: Know your surroundings, locate exits and security, and stick with a group—especially after dark.
• Be cautious: Never accept drinks or substances from others.
• Dress smart: Wear sturdy shoes to avoid falls or injuries.
• Stay connected: Bring a charger or battery pack to keep your phone powered all day.

Safe sleep practices are one of the most important ways we can reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and help babies sleep safely and soundly.

Here's a quick reminder of safe sleep practices:
💤 Always place baby on their back for every nap and bedtime
💤 Use a firm, flat mattress in a safety-approved crib
💤 Keep the crib free of blankets, bumpers, toys and pillows
💤 Baby should sleep in the same room, but not the same bed
💤 Dress baby in a sleep sack of footed pajamas to keep cozy

This NICU Awareness Month, we’re honoring the tiniest fighters and the incredible teams who care for them. Baby Arlo’s journey began with a high-risk pregnancy and a life-saving procedure at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. Born at just 22 weeks and weighing a little over one pound, Arlo spent more than six months in our Level IV NICU, overcoming incredible odds.

Today, he’s a thriving toddler—and a powerful reminder of the strength of families and the impact of expert, compassionate care. 💙

Do you know the top reasons people visit the ER?
• Abdominal pain and digestive issues
• Chest pain
• Musculoskeletal aches and injuries
• Cuts or superficial wounds

Children often come in with high fevers, ear infections, or abdominal pain, while women may visit for UTIs, headaches, or pregnancy-related concerns.

Go to the ER immediately if you experience:
• Chest pain or trouble breathing
• Stroke symptoms (sudden weakness or slurred speech)
• Severe allergic reaction
• Uncontrolled bleeding, seizures, or poisoning

For non-emergencies, urgent care or your primary care provider may be a better first step. Here is more information for you and your family: https://bit.ly/48zHg4h
