I have been struggling lately to sit down and paint. I think of all kinds of things I need to do, and that I’m not doing. I try to be gentle with myself, but anxiety is hard. Feeling unproductive is hard. So I decided to show myself some extra love yesterday, I stopped by Jerry’s Artarama (I LOVE the one at 6010 N I-35 in Austin) on my way home from physical therapy, and I found a couple of new supplies. Then I brought them home and made this teeny tiny painting. I chose a super limited palette and a handful of tools. It was really fun to sit and explore this little magical place. I might make this design into a cover for tiny notepads, or maybe some kind of teeny tiny letter writing stationery...what do you think?

Our doggo, Rose, and I were hanging at Zilker while the guys road bikes. It was like a month ago. I had such a good time enjoying her and seeing other people enjoying all of the space. I was inspired to write...and the results are in (and edited). I posted my very first blog on my website! I had a lot of anxiety about sharing my writing in such a direct way, so I’m feeling really brave:) Have a look

I painted this a few years ago and just came across it again. It has been hiding since we moved from Washington to Texas. When I first painted it, it was an experiment...but now I can see that it was much more.

We found mumbun in August in a small field soon to be developed. She had her three babies about five days later. What a surprise that was! My dear sweet Bright World Art people...wow! It’s been a looooong time since I added something here. I value all of you so much, but social media has given me anxiety time and again. I have been on Instagram a bit, and while it’s less overwhelming, it’s still this same company (FB) in charge. All that aside, I miss seeing all of you, at events and art fairs or just hanging out.

I am still making art and have felt consistently like a phoenix rising. Sometimes daily. Sometimes every couple of hours! I revisited my original Phoenix Rising design, and made it feel more true to my style and vision now. I love it, I’ll include it here for you.

I plan to revitalize and reinstate my website and make it a cozy fun place that I, and you, can visit to see what I’m up to, and I think it will let me do it in a way that is not overwhelming. So when I finish that up I will post here to you all again.

I never know who among you will see this because of algorithms and all, but if you see this I really want you to know how much your support over the years has meant to me.

I decided to include some of the new work I have been doing from January until now. I chose 4 pieces (5 if we count the first one-Phoenix Rising) to represent what I’ve been doing during this time...
The white tiger was inspired by Melanie MacFarlaine’s spirit animal, that design was a good way to fiercely start January 2020, I had no idea at the time how much strength I would have to manifest in order to keep up with the year.
The next is a painting idea that started after sadly losing the beautiful and loving Jodi Hardy. I began the design while in Washington with the family all together. When I finally started painting it, the design transformed and continues to do so, it is a work in progress.
Next up is a creature from my fairly recent InA series, which is a place for my cute little friends to have fun...imagine them playing hide and seek and doing adventures. They make me smile when I look at them, and I’m so glad they come into this world. The one here is a throw back to a painting I did around 2007-2008 where I painted a miniature me hanging out in a tea cup. I sure wish I had an image of that one, someone bought it, and I cannot remember who it was...if you happen to remember let me know ❤️ I sold it in Augusta GA. Anyhow, this one is called InA Cuppa.
And lastly, my most recent painting that I started a couple of nights ago, it is also still in progress. I bought new paint brushes for the first time in a long time and new watercolor paper that is different from any others I have. It’s been super inspiring to have some fresh supplies. So I mixed the newness with the style that I used to love to paint in that is more flowing and fluid than the precision with which I’ve been doing BWA stuff in recent years.

I decided to commit to drawing outside more. I go through phases where I draw a ton and then I don’t for a while, or I draw/paint in a certain style and then don’t draw from life very much for a bit. I’m ready to be drawing from life again, so I thought I’d share these from the other day. It was so fun sitting in the park with tons of people playing soccer and dogs running around everywhere. 12 of my new Random Acts of Cuteness designs will be the topping on the cake that is my 2016 Wall Calendars. This year they are bigger than last year, 12x12 when closed, 12x24 when opened. The change in format is because the most common improvement that I was asked to make was making a larger grid for writing in your important things. Also, I really wanted to be able to see the dates and lunar phases from across the room, so, larger numbers and moons. I hope you guys love it!

I just finished this, it's the image for June in my 2016 Calendar. I wanted to share it with you, even though getting on FB and seeing so many sad things happening it feels kind of out of place and inappropriate...but it's just another reminder-we are human, we are breathing. Prayers for those who are mourning and in need.

I have been busy designing and coloring and painting away! I recently started a new series that calls itself Random Acts of Cuteness (RAOC)...Supercute? Yes. Sometimes Strange? Yes. Just for kiddos? NO. I feel like adding some cuteness to our days is vital and exciting.
