Meet Kenny. He’s one of millions of Americans who are about to face a major increase in health insurance costs – and most don’t even know it yet.

Enhanced Premium Tax Credits (EPTCs) are currently helping 24 million people – including our patients – afford high-quality healthcare coverage through the insurance Marketplace (https://bit.ly/3Gkcalt). These tax credits are applied directly to people’s premiums, keeping coverage affordable and making healthcare more accessible. But unless Congress acts soon, these tax credits will expire at the end of 2025.

“When you get sick and you’re not rich, health insurance is absolutely essential. It doesn’t just make life easier, it makes life possible,” said Kenny. “Losing the healthcare tax credit would mean my monthly costs would go through the roof, and I wouldn’t be able to afford my treatments. I need Congress to extend the healthcare tax credit and give people in towns like mine a fighting chance.”

Without EPTCs, health insurance costs will skyrocket. Families may be forced to make heartbreaking choices – between keeping their health coverage or paying for food, rent and childcare. Learn how you can help protect access to care at https://bit.ly/3Ik3oo7

We are proud to share information about Kangaroo Care. We deliver at St. David's Medical Center and work closely with the Level IV NICU and their excellent care teams!

Today is International Kangaroo Care Day! At our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Kangaroo-a-thon started a few days ago. This is a heartwarming initiative celebrating the power of kangaroo care: skin-to-skin bonding that nurtures healing, growth and love for our tiniest patients and their families. Every minute counts, and we’re tracking that precious kangaroo time all week long. It’s not a competition, it’s a beautiful way to highlight the commitment and love our NICU parents bring to every cuddle.

Welcome our newest provider, Dr. Sara Anne Stringfellow!

"I love the fact that you have this longstanding relationship with your patients and their families, and you get to be a part of some of the most important parts of their lives in different ways. And that was really valuable to me."

Dr. Stringfellow grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, where she then went on to attend Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee to receive her bachelor of science in neuroscience. She attended the University of South Alabama in Mobile for her medical school training and during her time there, she was able to participate in rotations in both Senegal and Rwanda, fostering her interest in global women’s health and supporting the depth and breadth of women’s experiences across their lifetime. She stayed on at University of South Alabama with the Department of OB/GYN for her residency training. She won the Resident Teaching award her third year and Resident of the Year her fourth year.

Dr. Stringfellow is so excited to be able to bring her unique perspective to the women of the Austin community.

Welcome, Dr. Stringfellow!
