Casa de Luz Village received a prestigious award by the Congress for the New Urbanism on May 16, 2024. It recognizes that the village aligns with the Charter of the CNU. Many attendees, who are pioneering urban planner, city officials, architects and humanitarians approached us to get more information. It is our hope that Casa de Luz Village will be emulated around the United States and beyond.

Desserts have been the outlier at Casa de Luz for years. They may be healthier than most places in Austin but they are NOT great. We are now making them healthy by only using whole fruits, nuts and seeds. As we increase the unsweetened desserts, we diminish those that had maple and rice syrup. Desserts will no be a healthy offering and providing a new category of nutrients.

Dear Casa de Luz Community,

Casa de Luz strives to bring you the most nutritious and tasty food at a considerable value. When Casa de Luz opened the price was $6. It moved from $6 to $8 to $10 and last to $12 in the year-2005. The price always included the tax, which we paid from the round number price we collected. Casa de Luz strived to make the price simple by including the tax in the price. People used to pay with cash and a round number made it simple and easy.

Casa de Luz has been operating in the same location with the same equipment for 27-years. It has been 13-years since Casa de Luz last increased the price. The bank account has floated at a safe level until recently when we began paying for a City of Austin required fire suppression system. The last pay raise for our employees was 6-years ago.

The bank account level has dropped to a level requiring a price increase. We are using this opportunity to also raise our beloved employees pay. We enjoy having you join us in the dining room to share a meal. Please stay with us and enjoy 100% organic, hand made, whole-food meals where you can meet old friends, meet new friends or sit quietly alone. We always respect your expenses and strive to constantly achieve the highest value for your dining dollar. Please consider Casa de Luz: food, fellowship and healthcare.

FYI: Casa de Luz has been in this struggle for fire-safety for 16-years. The problem was never fire safety. The problem was parking. Casa de Luz has 2 parking spaces at the front for Handicap Parking. Since that time, ‘paid-parking' has been added to the lot across the street. In the first year of paid parking, the park raised around $500,000 from all users of those parking spaces. This 27-year old ‘not-for-profit’ business has no guarantee that the parking situation will be solved, after it installs the fire suppression system. Casa de Luz is acting in ‘Good Faith’.

Thank you for your patience as we install the fire suppression system and make this price change to $13, plus tax. That works out to a total of $14.07. If you are paying in cash feel free to pay a flat $14. We are in service to you.
