Louis W Apostolakis, MD

Finally got my Botox done! Dr Louis Apostolakis has been taking care of my brow/glabella & crow’s feet Botox for over 9 yrs. The way he injects, my brows lift back to their more youthful arch. So important! He is such a great guy and talented doctor. And best of all my Botox lasts 4-6 months!

Louis W Apostolakis, MD in Austin, TX
Got my restylane filler yesterday, some mild swelling and some redness, will be fabulous in a few days though. Dr. Apostolakis and his lovely team, changing lives for the better, one FACE at a time. I encourage you to check out some of his before and after photos.
Dr. Apostolakis is a very professional, talented, caring, and wise Dr., I highly recommend him. I believe he has his patient's best interest at heart.

If you have enlarged pores, you need to know about the Matrix Laser!
Matrix Laser is the same type of laser used in the full-field treatment, a CO2 laser, but it is fractionated. What this means is that rather than every square millimeter of your face being treated, the laser lays down a pattern of very small dots. Because untreated skin is left in between the dots, the healing is much more manageable. With a Matrix Laser treatment, you can do a single pass or multiple passes. The more passes, the greater the percentage of skin treated. It is a direct relationship between the number of passes, the length of healing, and the amount of improvement.

Simply put, Matrix Laser opens up laser resurfacing to a range of results and healing times to fit the patient’s desires. Standard resurfacing is an all or nothing type of treatment. Prior to fractionated CO2 treatments, the next step down from a standard laser resurfacing was a big step down. Now we can fill in the gap with significant improvement in color and texture without the protracted healing time.

Matrix Laser can also be used as part of a series. With a single pass treatment, most patients wear makeup and look pretty close to normal the next day. You can do several treatments like this spaced a month or more apart. Alternatively, you can do a 3 or 4 pass treatment and not anticipate any further treatment.

Unlike standard laser resurfacing, Matrix Laser is done with only a topical cream numbing gel and some nerve blocks if the patient desires. A va**um can be taken as well. During the procedure, there is still pain and if you would rather have IV sedation, this is offered.

Right now is the time for witches to look their best for Halloween! BOTOX® can be tailored to your own desires to produce the look that you want with the help of our BOTOX® injections. Most people are perfectly happy to get rid of the ability to scowl and squint since these are generally not considered flattering expressions. The forehead is the area most tailored to the individual’s desires. Treating the crow’s feet usually has no discernable effect on facial expressions. Since BOTOX® is temporary, we can adjust where and how much we use to produce exactly the effect we want.

Skin resurfacing is a procedure used to improve the appearance of the skin. There are many different ways to resurface the skin and each way has varying degrees to which it can be done. The healing time and results are directly related. There aren’t any shortcuts; the more result you want, the longer the healing. The gold standard of resurfacing is the deep peel. Methods include dermabrasion, chemical peel, or laser peel. Similar results can be achieved by all 3 if done to a similar level. Understand that just about any skincare provider you visit will offer some sort of peel, but only specially trained surgeons and dermatologists perform this “gold standard” type of peel. We prefer to use the Sciton dual-mode Erbium laser because of its consistency and low complications. Learn more at www.dr-apo.com

It's time for changing leaves and warmer clothes! As we know, any change in weather calls for skincare adjustments, and as the temperature drops, skin tightness, dryness and seasonal breakouts can really put a dampener on the changing season. So, we put together a few skincare tips to help you!

1. Switch to a more moisturizing cleanser.
This can help you as the humidity drops, since skin is prone to drying out. Make the first move and outsmart moisture-loss by swapping your light cleanser for something a little more hydrating.

2. Pick a skincare booster.
We may still be dreaming of those balmy summer days, but all that sun, chlorine and salt can mean dull, dry, dehydrated skin come fall. Time for some TLC. Always put your moisturizer onto skin right after cleansing? Try adding a booster. Think of it as an additional skincare step to help support your skin during changing seasons.

3. Swap your moisturizer for something richer
Because of environmental changes, switching to a thicker moisturizer before bed is important, as it works to hold in moisture, and in turn, helps you to maintain soft skin!

When the latest generation of injectable fillers came to market it really revolutionized the concept of the “lunchtime procedure”. Along with BOTOX®, truly amazing things can happen using these products with little or no recovery time needed.

There are two concepts to understand with injectable fillers. There is volume and there is crease filling.

Crease filling is the most common application for filler products. The smile lines and marionette lines (corner of the mouth down to jaw) are far and away the most commonplace to use fillers. Hyaluronic acid (HA) products are usually the first line of treatment here and work very well. We like Juvederm and Restylane® because of the excellent results and great longevity, which is often over a year. The safety profile is excellent and the product is dissolvable if you have any reason to want it out. Other common creases to fill include the ones between your eyebrows (usually in conjunction with BOTOX®), dimples, and, acne/chickenpox scars.

Volume filling is the latest concept in facial rejuvenation. Common areas to fill for volume include the lips, lower eyelids, cheeks, temples, and along the jawline. With aging, we tend to lose fat in our face. Volume filling reshapes your face to a more youthful appearance. In the lower eyelids, we only use the HA products. This area is absolutely unforgiving and only a dissolvable product should be used. At the same time, filling this area can make a dramatic difference. The lips are also very well treated with HA products such as Juvederm and Restylane®.

Cheek and temple filling is best done with Restylane®, Lyft, or VOLUMA™. This product is thicker and has superior longevity when treating these areas. Sculptra® is also used in these areas, but I have not been impressed with the results. Sculptra® requires a series of treatments, is costly, and is hit or miss on whether your body generates the collagen response needed to achieve results. Restylane® Lyft and Voluma, on the other hand, are volume fillers and always produce some filling as it is not dependent on your body reacting to it.

Love the skin you're in! 💋💋

As we age, the skin in the upper eyelids loses its elasticity and becomes stretched resulting in a flap of skin. This flap of skin may start to “crawl out your eyelashes” to the point that it obscures vision and causes fatigue as you strain to hold the eye open. The heaviness of tissues often gives people the impression that you are tired, old, angry, stern, un-inviting, or similar. It also obscures the brightness of the eyes giving a dull look to the eye. On occasion, young people will have exceedingly full upper eyelids that may also benefit from the surgery. The surgery nearly always includes removal of some of the skin of the upper eyelid and may also include trimming/reshaping of the underlying fat and muscle.

Not only are filler popular, but most major brands are also all-natural!
Although there are a variety of synthetic dermal fillers that provide excellent results, many of the most popular filler products are made from pure, all-natural substances like hyaluronic acid or collagen.

Top-shelf fillers like Juvéderm® and Restylane® use hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that’s already present in your skin, eyes, joints, and elsewhere in your body. In your skin cells, the main function of hyaluronic acid is to hydrate and plump, or subtly enhance volume.

Other brands of all-natural fillers are made from collagen, an organic protein that helps maintain skin elasticity and youthfulness. The collagen that’s already naturally present in your skin, tendons, ligaments, and other tissues helps define and reinforce their structure.
