From the desk of Tom Manley, CEO, TMF Health Quality Institute:

Vaccinations provide protection from diseases that can be serious – and sometimes deadly. For older adults, the risk of serious health problems caused by diseases like the flu or RSV are considerably higher. And because protection from some vaccines can weaken over time, it’s important to talk with a health care provider about staying up to date on your vaccines. From the desk of Tom Manley, CEO, TMF Health Quality Institute:

As we age, it becomes even more important to keep our vision clear and our eyes healthy. To detect early signs of disease and lower the risk of long-term damage to our vision, ophthalmologists recommend eye exams every 2-4 years for those 40-65 and every 1-2 years for those 65 and up. It’s National Eye Exam Month and the perfect time to make your eye exam appointment today.

From the desk of Tom Manley, CEO, TMF Health Quality Institute:

This year, National Health Center Week (August 3-9), celebrates 60 years of community health centers improving our nation’s health. Since 1965, community health centers have provided patient-centered care including preventive care, physical exams and vaccinations. Over time, substance use disorder treatment, chronic disease management and even dental care have been added as just some of the services individuals can access through community health centers. Join us in celebrating 60 years of making an impact in our communities and the increasingly important role that community health centers play in the U.S. health care system.

In response to the devastating flood in Central Texas over the Independence Day holiday, TMF Health Quality Institute’s board of trustees was proud to approve a donation of $100,000 to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country for the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.

The loss of life and devastation caused by the flooding was heart-wrenching. As a Texas-based company, we closely feel the impact of this disaster and our thoughts and prayers go out to all who were affected.

Spending time outside is a great way to be physically active, reduce stress and get some vitamin D. It's also important to remember that protection from the sun can reduce your risk of skin cancer.

Most skin cancers are caused by too much exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. UV rays are an invisible kind of radiation that comes from the sun, tanning beds, and sunlamps. UV rays can damage skin cells.
