Adults aged 18-65 years with excess weight may qualify for a local research study in McKinney, Texas.

You may qualify if you:

• Are between 18 and 65 years old

• Currently overweight and have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 27 to 42

• Are considered overweight or obese, which typically means:

•You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher,
OR
•You have a BMI between 27 and 29.9 and a health condition related to weight, such as:
-High blood pressure
-High cholesterol
-Sleep apnea
-Heart disease

• Have a history of at least one unsuccessful dietary effort to lose body weight.

You may not qualify if you:

• Have diabetes, uncontrolled thyroid disease, or other serious medical conditions

• Have a history of drug or alcohol abuse

• Are currently taking medications that significantly affect weight or muscle mass

• Have had recent weight-loss surgery or are using GLP-1 medications

• Must be 50-64 years old
• Must not have any underlying health conditions that increase risk of severe COVID-19 symptoms
• Must not have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 3 months
• Must not have been in close contact with an individual infected with COVID-19 in the past 2 weeks

Our Tekton Glucose Guardians showed up with big smiles, great energy, and a shared passion for helping people living with Type 1 diabetes. From cheering on walkers to connecting with families at our Tekton booth, it was inspiring to see the community come together for such an important cause.
