💙 November is National Family Caregiver Month

This month, we honor the incredible caregivers who provide support, love, and strength to older adults and individuals living with disabilities. Your dedication makes a world of difference.

Last week, our team — along with the Austin Texas Commission on Aging — proudly joined together as the City of Austin officially proclaimed November as Caregiver Month! We are deeply grateful to Council Member Marc Duchen for presenting this important proclamation and recognizing the vital role caregivers play in our community.

To every caregiver supporting someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia — we see you, we appreciate you, and we stand with you.

✨ We are proud to share that our ASC/ADRC Network Coordinator, Alida Coutino, and Program Specialist, Valeria Rios, represented the Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area as speakers at the 2025 Healthier Texas Summit!

Their session highlighted the vital role of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in connecting with older adults through cultural humility, trust-building, and relationship-based communication.

Attendees learned how CHWs use plain language and culturally relevant storytelling to reach adults who may be socially isolated or living in low-access communities. The presentation also shared strategies for integrating CHWs into public-facing outreach, program promotion, and branding efforts—showing how people-centered communication can enhance participation in aging services.

👏 Congratulations to our team for showcasing how innovative, community-driven approaches are strengthening aging services across Central Texas!
