Plastic surgery Question: When will my scars heal?

As a plastic surgeon I’ve been trained to meticulously close incisions with multiple layers of dissolving stitches. That being said, the majority of how you heal depends on your genetics!

Wound healing is a complex pathway and many factors are involved. Did you know the strength of a scar is never 100% of its pre-injury strength?!

That being said, at about 3 weeks most incisions are closed. This is why starting at 3 weeks we change your scar care regimen. It takes about a year, though, for your scar to reach its final state. So be patient with your healing journey.

Breast Reduction Question: How small can I get?

Most patients getting a breast reduction discuss a certain cup size. I can never guarantee a certain cup size, since we all know sizes vary by manufacturers (for example, Victoria’s Secret always upsizes you!).

When discussing sizes, there is a limit to how small you can get with a breast reduction. This is because we have to keep the skin and ni**le alive on their blood and nerve supply. This requires a healthy amount of tissue left behind!

I also take into consideration your body size and shape and hope to deliver a result that matches your body.
