Acne can be frustrating, embarrassing, and even painful. Dr. Julie Jackson shares some tips to help treat your acne at home.

If inflammatory acne is present (red acne bumps and pustules), using a benzyl peroxide cleanser (such as the Caliderma Pumice Cleanser) can help reduce P. acnes, the bacteria linked to acne. However if white heads and black heads are more of an issue, a salicylic/glycolic acid wash (such as Skinceuticals LHA cleanser) may be helpful. And lastly to help the old acne marks resolve faster, be sure to wear a non-comedogenic sunscreen (like Elta UV Clear). Prescription treatments are also effective.

Telehealth is available for new and established patients for routine office visits and cosmetic consultants. Urgent medical and surgical appointments will be handled by Dr. Lisa Rhodes at our Westlake location during our temporary closure.

For the health and safety of our patients, staff and community at large, Westlake Dermatology will temporarily close beginning Monday, March 23rd. We are planning to resume regular hours on Monday, April 20th. Please check our website for the most current information.

Until our offices resume regular hours, we will be utilizing Telehealth visits for routine medical visits and follow up appointments. If you have a currently scheduled appointment during the closure, we will contact you regarding rescheduling or converting to Telehealth. Please visit our website for information about how to access Telehealth.

Dr. Lisa Rhodes will be available to see urgent medical and surgical appointments throughout closure, and Dr. Peggy Chern and Dr. Hubert Chodkiewicz will continue to offer Mohs Surgery (until 3/27). If you need to schedule an appointment or have questions, please call (512) 328-3376.
