Dearest Erin: Thursday, August 15, 2024
Well, summer has come and gone. What a memorable one. You made a bunch of new friends in many different venues. You found a new hobby and became a Pickleball Master !!
So many nice things happened to you this summer. One job ended and now another has opened up. You should get your pickleball coaching certificate.
On top of that you made a good pickleball partner that you can play with for years to come. Maybe go on tour together and kick pickleball butt around the country! It is fun to watch you take on challenges and do well with them. It is inspiring for your dad.
The new school year:
As we talked. This semester will be a little different because of an expanded schedule. You’re going to learn to really organize and be efficient. You learned that in grade school for gosh-sake, so you should be just fine.
I sure hope you stay healthy and fit through the semester and into the springtime. You have a lot riding on your shoulders now.
Remember that through it all. Nothing is “the end of the world”. Just do the best you can and get through it. College is a stage in life. So many more fun things ahead. You are at the very beginning of the world.
So-o-o-ooo many more great things are going to come your way. Lots of experiences and great opportunities that will get you to see what we all know. You have something special in you. Your life is great and so are you…
Remember most of all that many people love you. Many people admire you and even more think you’re great and want to spend time with you. Recall that when you get discouraged about something, just remember that “YOU are loved by many and admired by more”!
I am so excited about Saturday night and getting to have a moment in time that few people get to have.
Everyone in the choir came over to me and commented about what a sweet song this is and what a wonderful daughter I must have… Well, of course she’s wonderful!
Singing a song from a letter I wrote to you makes me think, for a moment. I am as gifted as Beethoven. Well, maybe for a moment, eh? It should be fun and a special moment in time. I hope you are not embarrassed, and you enjoy the moment.
Well, Sunday morning I do my Forrest Gump imitation:
“And just like that, she was gone” ! It seems like you are gone longer each time you leave, and I miss you more each time you go.
I wish you the best in school, with your room dogs, your classes, your teachers, your new bosses, your new jobs, your new assignments, your new responsibilities… and your “old” boyfriend.
I hope you two talk early about your new duties and the commitment and recommitment you have for each other.
Be patient, be loving to each other in the midst of lots of things to get done. That creates safety.
Good luck, Honey.
I love you oh so much and am very proud to be your dad.
