You set a goal.

You start strong. And then—something shifts. Maybe you doubt: ‘Can I really do this?’

Maybe you’ve tried it before and stalled: ‘There’s too much to figure out.’ Or maybe it’s just life, pulling you in a million directions until your goal fades into the background again.

It’s not your lack of desire. It’s not your lack of skill. It’s that you’re trying to leap too far, too fast, and that’s a setup for failure.

When resistance shows up (and it will), most people don’t know how to recognize it, resolve it, and keep going.

So we quit.

Again.

But what if this time were different?

He was a self-made millionaire. He’d spent years learning, reading, and searching for answers about what makes a great partner.

He even joined a dating site.

And still, nothing was happening.

But here’s what surprised me: he never paid for the membership. Not because he couldn’t afford it—he absolutely could. His mind had simply decided it wasn’t needed. He believed he’d find what he was looking for without taking that tiny action.

He had no idea that an amazing woman had been messaging him for six months—messages sitting in an inbox he didn’t even know was there.

When he cleared the block and finally upgraded his membership, he logged in and found her there. It was her last day on the platform.

He messaged her that day. They went on a date.

Last year, they got married.

That’s what I mean by the missing rung. It’s almost never a huge obstacle. It’s usually a tiny step your mind quietly decides doesn’t matter—while everything you want is waiting on the other side.

Why I stopped setting big goals.

After several failed attempts to get my big goal, I nearly gave up on wanting it. I tried to talk myself out of how important it was, and life was good without it.

Which sounds like a good idea, but you know that big goal kept nudging me and wouldn't let me go.

Here's what I learned... when my goal feels like a 10 in difficult, nearly impossible, there are good reasons why I felt the difficulty was too much.

So I paid attention instead of pushing and forcing it to happen I chose to pause and uncover the blocks.

When I started using the ladder method to break it down into what felt achievable there is a knowing it will happen... I just have to pay attention to the subtle nudges to make it happen in right time and with right action!

Tip to Try: Trust Beats Control

Ever catch yourself refreshing emails, checking bank balances, sales stats, or pushing a launch date back just to “make sure it’s working”?

That’s not strategy—it’s uncertainty in disguise.

Try this 60-second reset

1. Place a hand on your heart.
2. Take three slow breaths.
3. Say (out loud if you can): “Life has a way of working out for me.”

Then choose one small action: send a single follow-up note, schedule a post, or give yourself a break in nature!

The point is to shift from monitoring to movement.

How would you know if you goal-resistant?

- If you’ve ever set a big goal and it didn’t work out…

- If you’ve nearly given up on manifesting altogether…

- Or if setting goals now feels heavy, pointless, or quietly disappointing—

That’s not failure although it may feel like that.
That’s goal resistance.

When a big goal doesn’t materialize, the mind learns:

“Better not go after something that big again.”

So instead of setting goals, we soften them and go after small things.
Delay them and not even give ourselves permission to think big.
Replace them with learning, planning, or staying “open.”

But avoiding goals doesn’t create safety.

It creates drift and dispersion.

Energy spreads thin.
Focus wanders.
Confidence erodes—not all at once, but slowly.

Over time, it starts to feel like:

“I’m doing a lot… but nothing is really moving.”

One simple thing to try:

The Ladder Approach

1. Draw a ladder on a piece of paper.

2. Write your big goal at the top.

3. In pencil, write down every step you can imagine to get there.
Don’t overthink it—just brainstorm freely.)

5. Place those steps onto the ladder rungs in the order that makes sense:
first rung, second rung, next rung.

Stay calm, you're not committing to the whole ladder.

You’re just reminding your nervous system:
“There is a path. I don’t have to leap.”

Goal resistance isn’t a lack of desire.
It’s your unconscious mind perceiving a lack of safety, and it will put the brakes on.

And safety is rebuilt—one rung at a time.
