Vivian Best is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner®. In 2009, while attending the first segment of her training in Chicago, she was inspired to start a project called "Give It Fresh Today," which collects donations of fresh local produce at the farmer's markets for use in meals that feed the hungry. The project collects over 1500 pounds of food a month from Blaisdell, KCC, Kailua and Windwa

rd Mall Markets. Vivian has explored many movement traditions from yoga and ballet, to West African, modern, and flamenco, but her passion is for partnered dancing. She has been an avid swing and blues dancer since 1999, is an instructor for the Hawaii Jitterbugs and blues workshop organizer. She is a gifted educator at Kahala Elementary who also tutors and teaches classes for children and adults in creative arts, ecoliteracy, and lindyhop. Recognized by Pacific Business News as one of Hawai'i's "40 Under 40," and the Honolulu Star Advertiser as one of "10 Who Made a Difference" in 2010 for her work in the community, Vivian loves sharing about the Feldenkrais Method® and believes it can inspire positive change, building awareness and hope for inspired action!

Today I worked with a young woman diagnosed with fibromyalgia and POTS. What a joy to offer her tools for rest and comfort! What a delight to help support someone feel a sense of wonder in their body! 🙂

What I find myself telling people who have never taken an Awareness Through Movement class before, is that we all feel so much more in our bodies than we ever give words to.

There are all the subtle sensations that we tune out, from the sensations of breathing and the pulsing of blood, to the feelings of care and inspiration to the subtle cues of relaxation and peacefulness in our bodies.

Very rarely are we invited to enjoy and listen for impulses, for curiosities, for the differences that may just make the difference in how we live and feel about our lives.

I delight in teaching these weekly classes at Myo on Saturday nights. I hope you'll join me sometime!

In celebration of Peter Brooks' life, I'm teaching some of the lessons that he requested be taught to the actors of the Bouffes du Nord theater in 1973 by Moshe Feldenkrais over the next month.

I love that Brooks encouraged actors to reject cliché imitations of reality and to search for something more real in themselves.

Feldenkrais Method has always provided me with a place where I can feel into my own experience more deeply. I have always found Awareness Through Movement lessons such powerful ways to tap into my own intuition and hope you'll join me on Fridays! (11am HST / 2pm PT / 4pm CT / 5pm ET)
