Cancer Rehab and Integrative Medicine

Cancer Rehab and Integrative Medicine Inspired by my own mother and grandmother’s journeys with cancer I opened Cancer Rehab Austin in January of 2016.

We offer physical therapy, lymphedema treatment, acupuncture, massage therapy, skin care services, aromatherapy consults, exercise classes, nutritional consults and healing seminars, to help survivors, thrivers, and caregivers. “Having been an oncology physical therapist for almost a decade in the hospital setting, I saw a need for a more holistic and multidisciplinary approach to recovery. Thankfully the treatment of cancer is starting to move more towards quality of life and addressing the entire person, not just their cancer. That mission is at the heart of CRIM ”
— Owner and lead therapist
Dr. Angela Wicker-Ramos PT, DPT

🧠✨ Did you know that some cancer treatments can lead to treatment-related peripheral neuropathy? This condition arises from damage to the nerves responsible for critical sensations and muscle movement.

🔍 *Understanding the Symptoms:*

✅ **Sensory Nerve Damage:** Tingling, numbness, or a pins-and-needles sensation in hands & feet. Can lead to an inability to feel pain or temperature!

✅ **Motor Nerve Damage:** Weak muscles may result in balance issues or difficulty with everyday tasks.

🌟**What You Can Do:** Stay proactive! Communicate with your healthcare team about symptoms, explore therapies like physical rehabilitation, and consider lifestyle changes such as exercise and a healthy diet. Remember: Awareness is key! 💪❤️

At CRiM, we believe in community, compassion, and collaboration — and few organizations embody those values more beautifully than our sister nonprofit, Moving Beyond Cancer Collaborative (MBCC).
MBCC provides accessible, affordable, and integrative oncology health and wellness services to individuals and families affected by a cancer diagnosis. Their mission is simple yet profound:
To move individuals through and beyond cancer in a manner that is dignified, compassionate, and empowering.
🌿 What MBCC Offers
MBCC’s programs focus on healing the mind, body, and spirit, offering:
* Free oncology exercise and mind-body classes (virtual and in-person) led by trainers with advanced oncology experience.
* Sliding-scale and scholarship-based acupuncture and massage therapy, designed to help manage the physical and emotional side effects of cancer treatment.
* Educational seminars and community workshops that reach thousands of survivors, caregivers, and loved ones each year.
Since its founding, MBCC has provided:💚 Over 7,000 class participants supported💚 1,000+ acupuncture treatments delivered💚 Countless moments of connection, healing, and empowerment
🌸 Why This Matters
Integrative oncology care — including exercise, massage, and acupuncture — has been proven to reduce recurrence risk, ease symptoms like pain and fatigue, and improve overall quality of life. But these services are often not covered by insurance or cost-prohibitive for many families navigating cancer care.
MBCC bridges that gap, ensuring no one is turned away because of financial hardship.

💙November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related death in the U.S. — impacting both men and women. In 2025 alone, an estimated 226,650 Americans will receive a lung or bronchus cancer diagnosis.
While smoking is the most common cause, exposure to radon, asbestos, and other environmental factors also increases risk. Regular screening with a low-dose CT scan is recommended for adults ages 50–80 with a history of heavy smoking (20 pack-years or more). Early detection saves lives.
At Cancer Rehab and Integrative Medicine (CRIM) in North Austin, we work with individuals navigating all stages of cancer recovery — including those impacted by lung cancer. Our oncology rehabilitation services (physical, occupational, and speech therapy) help improve breathing, strength, energy, and daily function during and after treatment.

✨ Take the next step toward healing.
