☀️ Summer can bring unique challenges for those in eating disorder recovery.
From body image triggers to social pressures around food and appearance, this season can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Here are 4 tips to help support your recovery through the summer months:
1️⃣ Reject the idea of a "summer body": You don’t need to change or shrink your body to enjoy summer. Your body is already worthy—on the beach, at a BBQ, in a tank top, or anywhere else.
2️⃣ Wear what feels good: Choose clothing that allows you to move, breathe, and feel comfortable—physically and emotionally. If it helps you stay present and reduce body checking, it’s the right choice.
3️⃣ Lean on support: Whether it’s a trusted friend, family member, or therapist, having someone to check in with before, during, or after challenging moments can make a big difference.
4️⃣ Honor your limits: You don’t have to say yes to every plan or event. Give yourself permission to choose what feels safe and nourishing for your recovery, even if that means sitting something out.
🌼 You deserve a summer rooted in self-compassion, not pressure. Recovery is possible—even when it’s hard—and taking care of yourself is something to be proud of.
💬 Share this with someone who might need the reminder, or save it for yourself to revisit as needed.
