You don’t have to love your body to treat it with care.

For some, body positivity feels empowering—celebrating your body and all it does for you. For others, especially during recovery, it can feel like a lot of pressure to love every part of yourself.

That’s where body neutrality comes in. Instead of focusing on appearance, it’s about respecting your body for what it allows you to do—walk, breathe, laugh, hug—without having to feel amazing about it all the time.

Both approaches have value, and both can be part of healing. It’s about finding what feels most supportive for you right now.

Which one feels more realistic for you today? 🌿

Meet one of DCA's newest Therapist Interns! With warmth, humor & realness, Amanda helps you slow down the anxiety spiral, reclaim your voice, and step into something bigger. Often the ‘strong one’? You can finally exhale here. Fun fact: you might find her clearing her head on a motorcycle ride or hiking with her pups. 🏍️🐾

More moments like this — where the air feels lighter, the laughter comes easier, and we’re too busy living to be obsessing over what our body looks like. 🌿

We believe these moments are possible for everyone.

Sometimes it starts with quiet conversations in therapy — untangling old beliefs, learning to listen to your body with compassion, and making space for joy again.

Here’s to building a life so full, there’s no room left for self-criticism. 💛

☀️ Summer can bring unique challenges for those in eating disorder recovery.

From body image triggers to social pressures around food and appearance, this season can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Here are 4 tips to help support your recovery through the summer months:

1️⃣ Reject the idea of a "summer body": You don’t need to change or shrink your body to enjoy summer. Your body is already worthy—on the beach, at a BBQ, in a tank top, or anywhere else.

2️⃣ Wear what feels good: Choose clothing that allows you to move, breathe, and feel comfortable—physically and emotionally. If it helps you stay present and reduce body checking, it’s the right choice.

3️⃣ Lean on support: Whether it’s a trusted friend, family member, or therapist, having someone to check in with before, during, or after challenging moments can make a big difference.

4️⃣ Honor your limits: You don’t have to say yes to every plan or event. Give yourself permission to choose what feels safe and nourishing for your recovery, even if that means sitting something out.

🌼 You deserve a summer rooted in self-compassion, not pressure. Recovery is possible—even when it’s hard—and taking care of yourself is something to be proud of.

💬 Share this with someone who might need the reminder, or save it for yourself to revisit as needed.

Therapy vs. Friendship!
Ever wonder what makes therapy different from venting to a friend? While both can offer support, they serve very different roles.

Your therapist is trained to provide objective, confidential, and professional guidance with your wellbeing at the center. Your friend, while caring and loyal, brings their own experiences and biases to the table.

Both are valuable — but they’re not interchangeable.
👥 You deserve a space that’s solely about you.
🖤 Therapy creates that space.
