This weekend is no ordinary weekend…

We’re hosting our final Spring Market at our beloved space on 200 W. Mary—& we intentionally chose this date. It aligns with the Full Moon in Libra, a moon that brings balance, beauty, & with your help - the blessing of conscious closure.
This Full Moon invites us to gently release the past & step forward into a more aligned future— & what better way to mark this next chapter than to gather with this wonderful community, celebrate the season, & honor this space & all the people (& pets) who have come through these doors over the past 39 years?

Yes, in case you have not heard —The Herb Bar is moving! �At the end of this month, we’ll be heading east to a new location in Cherrywood (3200 Merrie Lynn), & while change is never easy, this particular moon feels like a gift, like the wind is at our backs & we are fully supported in moving forward.

✨ The Libra Full Moon - More Beauty... More Harmony
This Full Moon reminds us that balance isn’t a fixed point—it’s something we cultivate, moment by moment. With Venus finally moving direct after six long weeks in retrograde, & Mercury now direct as well, there are signs of some forward momentum. Finally. But you are not rushing. Rushing does not cultivate balance. It ruins the vibe & you cannot take in all the beauty if you are rushing. As we are in the thick of spring, there is just too much beauty to miss out on. So, before all the parts of you that have felt held up, stifled, or even frustrated over the past many weeks… pause. Smell the roses. They are popping off right now. Everything is.
As if every bloom weren’t enough of a reason to slow down, we need time to allow the transformative power of these retrogrades to settle in & honor the endings they’ve brought us. We are called to integrate what’s been revealed, to acknowledge what has held us up & helped us grow.

Just as Venus is going direct, this Full Moon is exactly opposing Chiron in Aries—an aspect that adds an extra layer of healing energy to the mix. Chiron, the Wounded Healer, shows us where our deepest wounds lie, & also where our greatest potential for healing exists. Named after the mythological centaur—both teacher & healer—Chiron teaches us that there is medicine in pain.
In Aries, Chiron emphasizes wounds tied to our ability to assert ourselves, to claim our space, to pursue what we desire, & to take action. It’s about healing our relationship with masculine energy, regardless of gender, & exploring constructive ways to express our anger & drive.
& this is where Venus’s direct motion & Chiron’s placement come together. Venus represents the feminine—the receptive, loving, & beautifying energy—while Chiron in Aries calls us to heal & claim our right to exist, to be bold & take the initiative. It’s a moment to reflect on how we assert our desires & how we allow ourselves to receive love & support. There’s a delicate balance between the two energies, & this Full Moon asks us to find harmony between action & receptivity, assertiveness & softness.

A Fresh Start for Us All

Today, we’re feeling the energy shift here at the Herb Bar, and we know many of you can relate. After weeks of Mercury retrograde, as we’ve been preparing to move & set up for our final market at our original location, the challenges felt too real. There were moments of miscommunication, glitches, & delays that made us question the flow of things. But now, as Mercury stations direct, we're breathing a sigh of relief! The energy is finally moving forward, & we’re seeing a sense of clarity return — along with an uplifting sense of lightness. We hope you’re feeling this positive shift too!
💎A special shoutout to all of you for helping us navigate the hiccups with Square during this time. Your patience, support, flexibility & understanding made all the difference, & we are so incredibly grateful for you! We couldn’t have made it through that major headache without you!
Mercury’s retrograde period has stirred up confusion & challenges for many, but with the planet now direct, it’s time to shake it off.
For all of us, this means clearer communication, smoother processes, & a renewed sense of direction. One foot in front of the other✨
That said, Mercury in Pisces has a unique flavor to it. While it helps clear the mental haze, it also invites us to tap into our intuition. The Herb Bar Needs Your Support Against Corporate Discrimination

We are currently facing severe discrimination from Square, the company we rely on to process payments. They’ve flagged our business, raising concerns about the legality of products we sell, & even worse, they are withholding all funds from credit card transactions. This could be crippling for us. We depend on these daily payments to stay afloat, pay our employees & keep our doors open.

Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated issue. Square has targeted other apothecaries in the past for similar reasons. It seems clear that businesses like ours are being unfairly discriminated against simply because of the nature of our work. While we do not sell any controlled substances, illegal products or even CBD, Square’s reasoning remains vague & discriminatory.

To make matters worse, Square has been difficult to reach, & when we have gotten in touch with them, their responses have been unhelpful & dismissive at best. We do not currently feel that we have a clear way to resolve the situation.

This issue comes at a time when a new bill (S.B. No. 1868) in Texas is set to go into effect in September, banning certain native plants, due to their potential toxicity. Some of the products Square raised issues with happen to be included in this bill, along with morning glories, periwinkle & mountain laurel, surprisingly enough. Although Square hasn’t confirmed that this is the reason for their actions, the timing is interesting.

The fact that Square is withholding funds we’ve earned while serving our community is a serious blow—especially with our move to Cherrywood just weeks away.

Trust Your Growth, Trust Your Path

In the early morning hours of March 29th (tomorrow), we will experience a powerful solar eclipse followed by the new Moon in Aries. This isn’t just a celestial event—it’s a transformative moment that will close out a two year cycle, inviting us to reflect, release, & step boldly into the next phase of our personal journeys. When nothing is certain,

everything is possible

Before we take a look at Tonight’s Lunar Eclipse we want to acknowledge that the current transits are daunting. It’s a lot to keep track of, to communicate or even hold in ones awareness.. With so many moving parts & such mass uncertainty there is a need for trust. A need to remember that when nothing is certain, everything is possible. Collectively can we take a breath & believe that everything is aligning for our highest good?

In the wee hours of tomorrow morning.. on March 14, 2025, at 1:26 AM CST, the lunar eclipse begins. The full Moon in Virgo will move through the earths shadow, turning it a deep red, signaling major changes ahead. Eclipses are portals—intense, transformative moments that bridge the known & the unknown, offering opportunities for both release & recalibration. They guide us toward our purpose, initiating meaningful shifts in our lives.

This total lunar eclipse is particularly powerful as it aligns with the South Node* & the full Moon in Virgo. This energy likes structure, control, & often presents with a tendency towards perfectionism. This is what we aim to release at this time. Our drive to make things ideal, to overthink, & our need to control the outcome is no longer serving us. In fact these behaviors / habits may be contributing to our patterns of self-criticism or even show us that somewhere deep down we still believe that we must earn our worth. Nothing could be further from the truth.

While the Sun & North Node shine on in Pisces, illuminating its dreamy, mysterious & limitless qualities, we are encouraged to go with the flow. To embrace unconditional, even limitless self-love, & trust in the universe’s unfolding plan. This is a practice, consider it a conscious mediation. What does it look like to release the desire to control? How does it feel to trust?..

*The Lunar Nodes are critical markers in astrology, representing the intersection of the Moon's orbit & the Sun's apparent path, known as the ecliptic. A shifting of the seasons..

Dear Herb Bar Family,

After much thought & reflection, we are writing to share some important news: The Herb Bar will be relocating this spring. Like a tree that has weathered many seasons, our little stone house off South Congress has been our steadfast home since 1986. Though we’ve grown alongside Austin, bending in the winds of change, it is time for us to plant new roots. In May, we’ll be moving to a new space in the Cherrywood neighborhood, just off Manor Road.

This is by no means the end of The Herb Bar. We have been here in the heart of Texas for nearly 40 years, serving this ever-changing city & connecting with so many of you—our cherished community. And while change is never easy, we are excited about what lies ahead. Our new location brings with it fresh opportunities, & we can’t wait to see how we’ll continue to evolve & grow in this new chapter. We’ll be able to shift & expand in ways that we’ve dreamed of for years, & we hope you’ll be part of that journey with us.
