DYK? Congress established the Army Nurse Corps on Feb 2, 1901.

Nurses were the first women in the Army. U.S. Army General Hospital at the Presidio was the first Army hospital to employ them. By 1902, 41 nurses were part of the hospital staff.

The Angels of Bataan were 99 captured Army Corp Nurses who lived in a prison camp on the University of Santo Tomas campus for the remainder of the war, enduring shortages of clothing and food while caring for other prisoners.

Angels of Bataan were freed in January 1945 and returned to U.S. where they were given promotions and awarded the Purple Heart.

Samaritan Stories: A Glimpse into Transformative Moments

Meet Blake, our dedicated Mental Health Peer Specialist. Just 8 weeks ago, Samaritan Center initiated a program in the Travis County Correctional Complex. Blake and our team visited the jail, spending valuable time with incarcerated veterans, providing them with resources and support.

One veteran expressed, β€œAll the people Samaritan Center brought in have brought a wealth of personal and professional knowledge. Not one program has been this helpful for me since I've been here for a year.” Every instance we offer help or hope, especially to those in dire need like incarcerated veterans, is a testament to our mission. Join us in recognizing the impact of our outreach efforts. ✨ Help us continue to illuminate hope & transform lives: (https://ow.ly/Ak0e50Qknuu)

Behind the Scenes: A Glimpse into Our Staff's Reflections

At Samaritan Center, our team is the heartbeat of our mission. We asked our staff to reflect on moments when they've seen or experienced the Samaritan Center illuminating hope. Leslie, our Assistant Clinical Director, shares, "With every client relationship, I'm flooded with gratitude and humility. Therapeutic work is transformative, healing, and astonishingly effective. I am infinitely privileged to be a small component in clients’ journeys."

Join us in celebrating the transformative power of therapeutic work and the profound impact it has on our clients' lives. ✨ Help us continue to illuminate hope and transform lives: (https://ow.ly/6m0k50QjIP0)
