Flowers can create happiness in our brains by stimulating the release of chemicals like dopamine, oxytocin, and serotonin. A wildflower hike can trigger all the happy brain chemicals at once and even stimulate endorphin if you hike with exertion.

Upon waking, exposure to light signals the body to start producing cortisol, a hormone promoting alertness and wakefulness and sends a message to your brain that it can stop producing melatonin, a hormone that helps you sleep. As your circadian rhythm adjusts to daylight savings time, be mindful of the effect light has on the body.

Aluminum is a toxic metal with no known beneficial effects in the human body. In fact, its toxicity can cause harm. It preferentially accumulates in the brain and has been linked to neurological problems. Aluminum can also interfere with normal mineral metabolism in the body, contributing to a specific type of bone softening called aluminum-induced osteomalacia. Do your research and consider changing your cooking and storage behaviors from foil which can leach into foods to unbleached parchment paper - especially for acidic foods (tomato based) which are more susceptible.

Most carbohydrates in your diet are starches and raise glucose levels. Yet, RESISTANT STARCH doesn't spike glucose levels because it functions like fiber. Resistant starch is a carbohydrate that the small intestine can't digest so it passes into the large intestine where it's fermented by gut microbes - it feeds the friendly bacteria in your intestine and increases the production of short-chain fatty acids like butyrate. Many studies show that resistant starch can have powerful health benefits such as improved insulin sensitivity, lower blood sugar levels, reduced appetite, and improved gut microbiome. Resistant starch foods include:
plantains
green bananas
beans
peas
lentils
cooked and cooled rice
cooked and cooled potatoes
