🩺Patient Safety Update: The CDC just released information to the public concerning reports of counterfeit Botox.

What can you as a patient do to protect yourself? 🤔 Do your homework 📚
Ensure FDA approved injections (you can ask to see the vial and packaging) and verify your provider's credentials. Though laws vary by state, often the work of a qualified injector, nurse or nurse practitioner is supervised by a licensed physician such as a board-certified plastic surgeon. 💉

Injections such as Botox should be performed in an appropriate setting, such as a plastic surgeon’s office or clinic - not in non-healthcare settings such as private homes or hotels.

The CDC advises consulting a physician or going to the emergency room immediately if patients have any symptoms of botulism, including:
• Blurry or double vision
• Drooping eyelids
• Trouble swallowing or breathing
• Muscle weakness
