This Nurses Week, we’re celebrating the nurses who show up with skill and compassion to help patients feel supported in their most vulnerable moments.

Nurses are a steady presence whom patients remember long after the visit. They advocate, educate and coordinate, keeping safety and dignity at the center of every interaction.

To our nurses: Thank you for the difference you make for our patients and community!

A new option for patients who need a little more time — without an overnight hospital stay.

Our Ambulatory Surgery Center now offers 23-hour observation, giving some patients access to extended monitoring after a procedure in a setting built for comfort, safety and support.

This helps patients and families feel more at ease, with attentive clinical oversight and clearer guidance before heading home, making recovery feel more manageable from the start.

Is it just allergies, or is there something else going on?

In Central Texas, we’re used to navigating allergy season all year long, but there comes a point where over-the-counter fixes aren't enough, and dismissing symptoms can lead to long-term complications.

If you are experiencing these symptoms, it may be time for a specialized evaluation:
• Persistent shortness of breath
• Chest tightness or heaviness
• Wheezing that doesn't respond to allergy medication

If you feel like you’re running on fumes, this is your sign to pour into your own cup.

Social worker and researcher Dr. Debbie Cohen wants you to drop these four things to boost your mental health.

1. Comparison scrolling
2. People pleasing
3. Treating feelings like they’re facts
4. Ignoring your body budget

Your mental health isn’t a luxury. It’s time to start putting your own wellness first.

“I just felt really well cared for.”

Mallory Harris was the first patient to have surgery at our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) under our new 23-hour observation. After being diagnosed with Graves’ disease and living with frustrating symptoms, Harris was ready for relief. So, her endocrinologist referred her to our Samuel “Rhett” Long, M.D., for a thyroidectomy.

Because 23-hour observation was available at the ASC, Harris was able to recover with added peace of mind overnight. Her care team took time to answer her questions, explain what to expect and make sure she was comfortable. “It was very individualized care for the whole night, just checking in on me, making sure I had anything that I needed,” Harris shared.

This new option helps more patients get the right care at the right time, with an experience designed around what they need most.
