By combining the sensitivity of energy work with deep pressure, i create the environment for instantaneous feedback (responding to responding to responding) between your nervous system and mine where it counts in your system. I believe this is the foundation of the therapeutic benefit of massage therapy.

I just finished Watsu 1 training! Even though I would have a ways to go before becoming a certified Watsu practitioner, I can feel a real difference in how I approach bodywork.

If you’re struggling with a persistent feeling of heightened alarm, remember that no one is built to be able to settle down at will at all times. Sometimes we need another person to hold a calm space and help us absorb their vibe.

Whether we ask family, friends, loved ones, professionals, or someone else, it’s something we all need from our community.

The kind of touch I use in massage sessions is intuitive, steady, sensitive, deep, and responsive. This communicates directly, deeply, and unequivocally to the emotional and physical nervous system that someone is listening. This tells the whole body that the crisis is over.

Your whole body is involved in everything you do! We can find more comfort in our daily actions by expanding our awareness into parts of our body that aren't consciously involved. Feel your feet while doing work that uses your hands, for example. This is an awareness workout and will support healthy movement.

I am on a lifelong journey of embodiment, and I love supporting others in embodiment through my massage work! Here's some food for thought:

Where you put your awareness changes how you move and feel. Many of us keep our awareness focused on either the front or back of our bodies, instead of distributed more evenly. I like what happens when I shift my awareness to my back from my typical front-favoring tendency.

I notice that I walk slower, my energy feels more receptive and open, and I feel more content.

It's good for breaking the spell of hurrying toward the future.

Do you lean forward in your life? Back? What happens when you shift your awareness to your back or front while you're walking?

Acknowledging differences in processing sensory information breathes so much space into daily relating. Does a lot of your energy go toward managing sensory input?

Sensory meltdown = because of sensory overload... the person cannot necessarily calm down immediately after their sensory needs are met. Tantrum = attempting to manipulate a certain result... the person is able to calm down as soon as they get what they want.

They are not the same thing.

Sensory meltdowns are a cry of distress. They are a child's way of communicating that their needs are not being met. They are also a sign of sensory sensitivity where the brain has difficulty processing sensory information.

Did you know there are 4 major kinds of nerves for feeling in the skin? Each one responds to different kinds of touch, as well as having different responses over time. Two of them get used to sensations quickly, and two slowly.

Our nervous systems love to be used fully! Give yourself (or ask someone else) light touch, heavy pressure, slow repetitive touch, quick and dynamic touch. Shake things around! Stretch the skin!

Message me to book a massage, and treat your nerve endings :)
