Therapy eases the healing process by helping you to deeply understand yourself, with compassion, so your concerns can be effectively addressed. I vary my approach to fit the style, issues, and goals of each client. Whether you are going through a life transition, coping with a mood disorder, or wanting to improve the quality of your life, you don't have to do it alone. About Animal Assisted Therapy

Animals (dogs & cats most commonly) have proven to provide people with many therapeutic benefits: companionship, love, humor, play, exercise, a sense of power, and outlets for displacement, projection, and nuturance. For these reasons I practice with my 2 canine co-therapists, upon request, to enrich the treatment experience.

The Buddhist had a handle on this whole mindfulness, meditation, and compassion stuff 2500 years ago. One might say they invented it. OK, maybe that's a stretch. Anyway, now we are catching on to the idea (ideology), better late than never. I want to share with you this free Meditation Guide. If the word "Buddist" is troubling and keeps you from picking it up, try changing it to, Helpful Meditation or Relaxing Meditation or Very Cool Meditation. It is really all just the same. The important part is that you pick it up!

The movement toward mindfulness has consequently begun a movement toward simplicity. Being overwhelmed by the clutter in our space/ lives can be the cause of serious health and mental health problems. Clutter can play a significant role in how we feel about where we live, where we work and how we feel about ourselves.

A lot of people live in a perpetual state of limbo. It’s a grayed-out, dulled-out, parched-dry zone of ‘what if’ and ‘maybe someday.’ Maybe someday I’ll fit back into this. Maybe I’ll look back at these notes and turn them into a proposal. Maybe I’ll have a better sense of how to handle this next …

Things to consider. In what ways does your Smart Phone help you? Hurt you?

We still call them “phones,” but they are seldom used for talking. They have become like a substitute for memory—and other brain functions. Is that good for us in the long run?

What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness = Awareness
In any given moment, when we are purposely aware of that moment we are "mindful". This is not necessarily something that comes easily or even naturally to most of us. The Buddhist refer to it as monkey mind as all the clutter that goes on in our minds that keeps it from resting in the moment.
Want to test your mindfulness?
1 Coloring
Have you ever colored in a coloring book? Get some crayons, markers or pencils and have at it! You will notice that your mind quickly settles into a resting spot in the moment in the coloring book.
2 Try a Body scan
Take a few quiet moments. Lying down or seated. Scan your body from the bottom of your feet to the crown on your head. Notice muscles, twitches, pain, stress, by slowly moving your attention to all the nooks and crannies of your body. The challenge will be doing it slowly and methodically.
3. Breathing -
Try counting your breaths. Count on the in breath. Inhaling then exhaling. On the exhale count 1, inhale and exhale count 2 etc. you are about to learn how crazy difficult it is to be mindful.
