Meet our spOTlight this week, Natalia! 💕

A little bit about Natalia:
I grew up in El Paso, TX, before moving to southern Oklahoma. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma and later my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I love traveling, especially visiting national parks, exploring the outdoors in Austin, going on walks with my fiancé and our dog, Zuko, and spending time with friends and family! I also enjoy exploring coffee shops and making my own matcha lattes!

Favorite thing about working at CASOT:
I love having the opportunity to work with such a wonderful team, I’ve built such meaningful relationships with them! Collaborating and learning in such a supportive environment is so rewarding, and of course, the kiddos always brighten my day!

What do you love most about being an OT:
The opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives such as helping them gain skills, confidence, and independence! I love how OT brings out my creative side, allowing me to think outside the box and tailor each session to fit a person’s unique needs while having fun.

Favorite therapy toy:
This is hard to pick because I have so many, but probably squigz because there are SO many ways you can use them for therapy.

Meet Yvonne, one of our amazing Speech- Language Pathologists!

A little bit about Yvonne:

“I was born and raised in Southeast Texas, but I moved to California when I was 18.  I convinced my family to return to Texas with me in 2015.  I received my BS and MS degree from Cal State University, Sacramento, and I’ve been an SLP for 28 years.  I’ve been with CASOT for 10 of those years. I love hanging out with my husband, my 2 adult daughters and my 3 dogs.  I also love to watercolor.  It’s my therapy!  When I’m not doing that I’m reading or working on my Teachers Pay Teachers store.”

Favorite thing about working at CASOT:
“The kids and the awesome CASOT team.”

What do you love most about being a SLP?
“I love meeting a child where they are and building a safe and trusted relationship with them.  I love supporting our families in navigating challenges that come with raising a child that needs support to grow into their full potential.  I love seeing a child grow and be successful with their goals  I love learning from my co-workers, and I love the many humorous stories that come from working with children.”

What’s your favorite therapy game/toy/activity?
“If I ever had to do speech & language therapy on a deserted island, and I could only have one therapy toy/activity it would most definitely be bubbles!”
