Iāve been in the beauty and wellness industry since 1998. I developed reactive and sensitive during my pregnancy in 2004.
Professional lines that I had used for years, started giving me allergic reactions. My face would suffer from eczema and my eyes would swell shut, even from the most luxurious makeup brands. I would struggle with this for a few years, just expecting to have a reaction to everything. For all things that touched my face, to burn or itch.
My thought was that I was using a professional line, or a nice department store brand- that it was me- not the actual ingredients in these products.
Then the eczema moved to my hands. My hands were working with lab created products for hours everyday in the professional spa environment I was in. Giving people facials without gloves, the esthetician is also absorbing these ingredients into their skin.
My body started to reject everything.
I had to wear cotton gloves, because my skin was raw and bleeding. Zero prescription helped my condition. I had to stop working at one point because I needed to heal my hands. I was afraid to eat out with friends, because I didnāt want to gross them out with the condition of my hands.
It was a dark time and as an esthetician, I was very lost on what to do.
I went back to basics; reading books about natural healing and falling in love with the philosophy of healing through natural world. I took an interest in healing through the gut and looking at lifestyle choices along with what we put on our skin. As I cleaned up my diet, I also learned alot about the power of herbs.
I grew Esty Skin Studio as an apothecary style spa, using raw clays and herbs that has been in business since 2008. We have transformed so many peopleās lives by teaching them about lifestyle choices to better your skin health.
