The more you’re willing to be wrong about anything, the more you’ll be right about everything.
-
Open-mindedness means untangling from the mind and being open to what may lie outside your comfort zone.
-
It also means you have to design your social media algorithms. Otherwise, they show you what your close-minded self wants you to see.

Childhood, trauma, and environmental influences provide us with a default template of a life.

The more we awaken to how our lives have been written for us, the more we can shape the story.

We can live by default and continue to be who we’ve been, or we can live by design and choose who we become.

Live by design, not by default.

This idea you should have 'no fear' and simply go after what you want doesn't work. It's like recommending you should stop feeling hungry if you want to lose weight.

Fear, like hunger, is a biological urge that keeps you alive.

To reach your goals don't try to subtract fear.

Add courage.

Doing hard things can make life easy.
Doing easy things can make life hard.

Discomfort on purpose is better
than comfort on accident.

We're wired to avoid discomfort
for fear of the unknown so we must design it in safe, free zones.

This is growth.
Otherwise, stagnation.
And there's nothing wrong with that,

if you want to stay the same.

Dis-cover: rip the facade off, peel the layers back, and stare at what’s underneath. There’s a time and place for contentedness & accepting what you already have – but there’s also the need to distrust, dislodge, and dis-cover what you know to be true so that you may discover what lies beyond it. It’s the confidence to dismantle someone you’ve been so you can become who you are.

I’ve taken a lot of time off social media lately & as a result, I’ve done a lot of:
Yoga.
Sitting.
Writing.
Traveling.
Self-care.
Reflecting.
Rekindling.
Meditation.
Connecting.
Psychedelicing.

I dis-covered a lot. And now I’m approaching social media with an entirely new perspective: to make my life better. In a few weeks, I’m releasing my first course on my upcoming site, How To Become Yourself, helping you curate a custom plan to use social media to improve your life – not distract you from it. for early access when it’s ready.

We don’t have control over writing our life story when we’re dependent on too many things. Without realizing it, the dependencies start to write life for us. The word ‘dependence' has a French origin meaning, ‘addiction' – which is a great lens to view dependencies we consistently lean into for support.
💫
For the last few years, I’ve been trying to identify all my macro and micro dependencies. Coffee was definitely one. Still is. I was dependent on validation from the opposite s*x at least every few days, drinking a couple times per week, having peanut butter before bed every night, & many more. It’s not like I HAD to have these things but they became such a consistent part of my life that if I didn’t scratch the itch, it negatively affected my overall wellbeing. To me, that wasn’t authentic independence. I was being pulled in different directions based on my addictions — and those addictions had simply developed, I didn’t mindfully design them.
💫
Addictions / dependencies are part of being human. It’s a natural response for our brains to take the path of least resistance and dependencies provide us with consistency. The future can be a little less scary & require less energy when we have consistencies to lean into.
💫
Gaining independence isn’t about about freeing yourself from addictions but mindfully designing them. Just as you should choose your struggles, you should design your dependencies. After I identified my old ones, I set out to reprogram them with better ones. My peanut butter addiction before bed was replaced with magnesium & cbd. Whenever I started to feel the pang of needing validation, I did something selfless — which actually worked better. I’m also dependent on going to a daily yoga class, spending time in nature every day, getting alone time, listening to music that evokes creativity, & giving myself 30 minutes every day to just think. If I don’t do these things, it affects my overall wellbeing. So I crave them. I still have addictions, they’re just making me better.

My first Ayahuasca ceremony 5 years ago revealed to me what a master I was at fooling myself. I saw all the clever ways in which I’d b***y trap myself from living the life I wanted. I could see how I’d go at great lengths to maintain patterned habits – and despite me believing I was taking giant leaps towards a greater life – I realized I was simply playing bigger, small games.
💡
We’re hardwired for fear to keep us safe, but that doesn’t mean it steers us away from danger, it actually steers us away from change. The ‘known’ is perceived as safer than the ‘unknown’ even if it’s actually more dangerous or harmful. Our brains have figured out how to survive in this ‘known' space regardless of how difficult it is — and since fear exists to keep us alive — surviving it time and time again is enough to convince us to stay right there.
💡
So we play tricks on ourselves. We may materialize all the motivation we can muster, but at some point our subconscious will be hard at work manipulating us into doing the same thing we’ve always done. So what do we do?
💡
I’m launching How To Become Yourself with courses, coaching, community, & resources addressing these problems & giving you the tools you need to break old patterns and become who you really are. I’m excited to release the first course & coaching programs by Ausust 1. Sign up to learn more.
🎁
If you do I’ll send tell you the secret ingredient to stop playing big, small games so you can break out of these patterns. It goes out tomorrow for Independence Day. 🎇

If you don’t expand outside your comfort zone you will live a life of predictability.
If you live predictably, you won’t encounter new experiences.
Without new experiences, you won’t evolve your self.
Without evolution, there can’t be revelations.
No revelations means no revolutions.
No revolutions is void of meaning.
Meaninglessness is nothing.
Give death meaning.
Be something.
Live.
