Men’s mental health matters.
Not just in crisis and not just this month, but every day.

This month is a reminder that strength isn’t silence, toughness isn’t avoidance, and asking for help isn’t weakness. It’s human.

If you need support, take the step. If you love someone who’s struggling, check in. If you’re doing the work quietly, we see you.

You’re not alone.

Rest isn’t just lying down — it’s giving your nervous system permission to feel safe, to regulate, to come back online.

Shutdown, on the other hand, is your body’s way of saying it’s too much to handle right now, but that kind of pause doesn’t restore energy or capacity.

Notice the difference for yourself today. Choose the pause that actually replenishes you. 🌿

Permission slips are a grounding tool in mental health work because they help us step out of autopilot and into intention.

They make room for needs we often ignore: rest, boundaries, pacing, gentleness, choice.

If you want to practice one today, try this:
“Today, I give myself permission to ___.”

Make it small, doable, and honest. Your nervous system responds to permission more than pressure.

Self-compassion isn’t about lowering the bar — it’s about lowering the pressure.

When we treat ourselves with gentleness instead of judgment, our nervous system softens, our capacity grows, and our inner critic gets a little quieter.

This month, we’re exploring what it looks like to meet yourself with understanding instead of urgency. A small shift, but a meaningful one.

As we head into the weekend, notice what kind of rest your mind and body are actually asking for. Not the version you think you should choose… not the one that looks productive or impressive… but the one that truly restores you.

Maybe that’s quiet.
Maybe that’s connection.
Maybe that’s doing nothing at all.

Whatever it looks like, you’re allowed to choose the kind of rest that meets you where you are — not where you “should” be.

Boundaries aren’t about pulling away, they’re about staying connected with more clarity and less overwhelm.

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, resentful, or saying yes out of habit, nothing’s wrong with you. Your system is just asking for clearer limits and gentler pacing.

Here’s to choosing what supports you this month.

Support doesn’t have to be big or complicated.

Sometimes the deepest healing comes from the smallest moments — someone sitting with you in the quiet, texting to check in, holding space without trying to fix you.

We’re not meant to do the hard things alone.
At COAC, we care about the kind of community that helps you come home to yourself. The kind that makes space for your humanity — slow, tender, imperfect.
🤍

Rest isn’t a pause from life — it’s part of living it. Your body knows when it’s time to slow down. Permission to do just that today.

We’re paying attention to the small things.

A little light. A steady breath. A conversation that felt honest.

Noticing these moments doesn’t erase the hard parts — it just gives us something to hold onto while we move through them.
We’re practicing that, together.

You don’t have to solve what feels heavy all on your own, and you don’t have to make it neat or perfect.

Start by writing down what feels heavy. Notice it without judgment. Ask yourself: When did I start holding this? Consider: What would it be like to not hold all of this by myself?

Even taking these small steps on the page can begin to shift the weight, letting you experience that support doesn’t always have to come from someone else — it can start with simply noticing and naming it. 🤍

Some days move forward. Some days feel still. Some days feel like you’re circling the same questions again. All of it counts. You don’t have to be “better” to be deserving of care. You don’t have to have clarity to be worthy of gentleness. Where you are right now is part of the path — not a pause from it. 🤍
