🖍P L A Y has a million benefits and really belongs in every child’s learning environment (e.g., school, home, outdoors, etc.)!

Did you know not all play is created equal?! That does not mean that one is better than the other. Really it just shows that they ALL have a place and a purpose in your little one’s development!

🌈How cool we can break down play and look at all of its benefits right??

🖍I created this guide to bring awareness to all the different types of play, what they are, and a few strategies to support each area. A few things to consider when looking at this play guide:

• This is not a comprehensive list of strategies to facilitate each type of play; rather it’s a few suggestions to consider.
• If you already have a SLP on team, collaborate with your SLP to maximize the most out of your child’s type of play!
• Please still consult with a speech/lang specialist if you have specific questions/concerns or DM me!

🐝What’s the buzz about play? We all hear about it but WHY is it SO important?! I’m going to spend the next week breaking down more about play and the concepts around it 🔆

👉🏼Fact: Play is critical to healthy brain development.
👉🏼Also fact: Play and language/communication development go hand in hand!

🤹🏻‍♀️ Did you know that when you play with your little one you are in fact inviting opportunities for growth in:
• social-emotional like connection & bond
• social skills like reciprocity & engagement & conflict resolution
• imagination/creativity
• imitation skills
• flexibility
• vocabulary
• expansion of phrases/sentences
• following directions
• problem-solving skills
• practicing speech sounds
• executive functioning like planning and organizing ideas, etc.
• fine/gross motor

🤸🏻‍♀️And seriously the list can go on! The power of play is incredible (also FUN) and is a foundation for all other areas of development in your child’s life!

🔐 Secrets to building a cohesive team! ⁣

lays out the dysfunctions that can erode the foundations of any team! For the original pyramid of dysfunctions, google, “5 dysfunctions of a team visual.” I decided to take the positive spin and highlight what is needed to build a strong team! ⁣

As we approach the Fall season, there’s anxiety and lack of clarity surrounding so many questions regarding our profession! A lot feels out of our control 🤷🏻‍♀️ But what I do know is that we need to come together, stronger than ever as a team to do the best we can to navigate this FFT (Brene Brown’s term, “F* first time”). ⁣

Your team can be your family, your immediate team at work, your employees at a private practice, your clients and their family, etc. ➡️ Swipe through to see what characteristics would be present if your team is struggling with that specific level of the hierarchy and a few suggestions on what you could do to empower and strengthen that area. ⁣

💪🏼 More than ever, we need strong leaders and collaboration!

Wow!! You all showed so much love when I made the playground post with language that is NATURALLY built into common everyday play! 🤸🏻‍♀️⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Here I go with round✌🏼⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Language can be easily built into ANY natural, daily life activities. You don’t always need fancy toys or tools to encourage your little ones’ communication. The more natural the activity, the more seamless it will fit into your lifestyle and daily routine to enrich your child’s language. 💡Remember the idea is NOT to always ADD more but to take what’s already existing within your home routine and ENRICH it. 👈🏼🙌🏼👏🏼⁣⁣
