Hey y’all! 🤠 It still feels funny to say that being from the Midwest. 😆 Who’s heard of Ranch Water? With warmer weather approaching, this is the perfect low sugar drink to cool off with. If you’ve never tried it, you’ll be surprised how refreshing it is and how you won’t miss the sugar. A drink in moderation does have some heart healthy benefits, but the American Heart Association recommends no more than one to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women. (And this really should not be daily! Just a general guide.) And size does matter here, one drink equals 1.5 oz of liquor, 5 oz of wine, or 12 oz of beer. With that said, please still check with your doctor to see if this is something that would be okay on your healing journey and please enjoy responsibly. Cheers!

🤠 Jam Jar Ranch Water

Ingredients:
🥃 1.5 ounces of Tequila Blanco
💚Juice of 1 lime
🧊 Ice
💦 Topo Chico or Soda/Sparkling Water (apox 6 ounces)
🤍 Flakey sea salt for the rim

Directions:
Add the tequila to your 1 cup jam jar or glass of choice. Squeeze in the juice of one lime. Fill with ice. Top with Topo Chico. Rub the rim with lime and press some flakey sea salt along the edges. Garnish with a wedge of lime. Enjoy!

Stunning, inspiring, mesmerizing. The youngest inaugural poet in US history, Amanda Gorman, giving me and clearly so many others words to hang on, sit with, and steep in. What a beautiful and important soul she is.

“Let the globe, if nothing else, say this is true: that even as we grieved, we grew; that even as we hurt, we hoped; that even as we tired, we tried; that we'll forever be tied together victorious, not because we will never again know defeat but because we will never again sow division.”

Feel it all and let your light shine. She sure as heck did. ❤️🤍💙

I’m back in my happy place! 💃🏻 It’s been a year, and it feels so overdue. Definitely a little rusty, but had a blast. Best workout I’ve had in months. Thank you for an epic class as always. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about having fun. And, sometimes you need to turn around, stop overthinking, and feel the music. Here’s to getting out there and doing something that scares you. You can do it! ✨

IG won’t let me post with the music, but it’s Ciara’s “Get Up.” Maybe I’ll be able to put it in stories. 😗

Happy New Year from our family to yours! 🎇 We didn’t do much this year, but we did get dressed up for my Brother-in-law’s wedding (which was postponed several times) and nervously & safely enjoyed the beautiful evening. Care to caption the second photo of my daughter? 🥂😂 (don’t worry, that was obviously not her drink.)

Does anyone else do a major clean and purge at the new year? It feels especially good this year. Let that sh*t go!

Looking forward to sharing more culinary medicine content in the new year and possibly whipping up something special through . Stay tuned!

Love y’all! ❤️ @ Austin, Texas

Well, it looks like I am unable to avoid turning the chronological age of 40 years old today. 🥳 I certainly don’t feel 40! I feel like my biological age is closer to 30. Did you know that you have a biological age 🧬 in addition to your chronological age ⏰ (the actual time that has passed since you were born)?

Your DNA can be influenced not only by time, but also by environmental and biological factors, including nutrition, your physical activity, your microbiome, your emotional/mental health, and environmental factors like exposure to toxins.

A favorite biomarker of mine is telomere length. 🧬 Telomeres are protective proteins found at the end of chromosomes/DNA. Shorter telomeres are associated with poorer health and older biological age. Telomeres naturally shorten during an individual’s life, but research highlights several factors that speed up that process. Here are a few ways to keep your telomeres nice and long: eat a nutrient dense diet, stay active, make sleep a priority, lower toxic load by obvious methods like not smoking ci******es, but also by avoiding pesticides in foods and chemicals in home and body products.

Let’s all be able to say…”My telomeres are longer than yours!” 🍆

Supporting evidence that I cannot possibly be 40 years old…I have the sense of humor of a 20 year old frat boy (see above) and I can throw a tantrum to compete with my 5 year old. 😂 Joking aside, if I have to pick one thing that stands out to me in my growth over the last decade, it would be forgiveness. It is not an easy thing to do, but can be life changing. Forgiving yourself, your family members, your friends, or even your enemies. I plan to continue to stay at least 10 years younger in my biological age by continuing to work on forgiveness, mindfulness, all of the above tips, plus dark chocolate. 🍫

This photo was taken a year ago when we were ice skating in New York City. We have been going to NYC every year for my birthday for the last few years, and I’m pretty sad that we can’t this year, but am looking forward to the years ahead. Here’s to a better year ahead for all of us. Cheers! 🥂

I think he/she would do a great job! 🥬🥒🥦🥝🍏 I’m seeing a lot of tense nerves today, so I hope this gives you a little smile. ☺️
In all seriousness though, I’m a first generation American and I’m proud to be in this country where we all have a voice. Even though we don’t all agree with each other, I have hope that we can work together and strive for the greater good.
Sending calm and hopeful vibes to all of you tonight. ✨

Hey hi hello! ❤️ I have a very important question for you. If you were on a deserted island or on the run in a zombie apocalypse (feels very 2020 and post Halloween, right?), and could only listen to one artist’s music ever again…Who would you choose? It can be an individual musician, a group, or a band. You get access to all of their music, not just one album. Yes, it may be a random thing to think about, with all that is going on in our world, but it is a fun way to connect with each other and take a mind break. It’s a mini dose of mindfulness! 💫
I have a deep connection to the music of Paul Simon, which goes back to my childhood. Last year, I met my family in NYC to see Paul Simon’s last show of his last tour, and it was so meaningful. It’s fun to ask friends and family this same question, and a couple recent answers I’ve heard are The Beatles and John Mayer. It may be my Enneagram 4 personality shining through, but I feel music is one of the most amazing aspects of our lives. It can reduce pain, lower stress, change a mood, improve memory, and can even help build neurons. There are certain songs that transport me to an exact moment of life. Anyone else?
I haven’t done an intro in awhile, so if you are newer here, I’m Dr. Katie Keller, and I practice medicine in Austin. I am currently at a few clinics, and I practice a range of holistic primary care to specialized thyroid/hormone care. Message me with what you are needing and I’ll help you get set-up. I am now taking private Reiki clients as well. If you are interested in seeing me for reiki, send me a DM. Things to expect on this account include info on holistic health, supplements, nutrition/recipes, fitness, non-toxic living, thyroid/hormone and chronic illness support, and a bit of my fam. 🙃
Okay, so which musician/group/band would YOU choose?! And, why?...if you are up for sharing. I really can’t wait to hear! 🎶

Hi friends! 💓 I’ve been pretty MIA on here for the last month, other than a few stories here and there. I gotta tell ya, I miss y’all!
I felt like I was handling the first part of quarantine like a Champ, but then it started to wear on me (as I’m sure many of you can relate.) The new way of working, the masks and cleaning procedures, the lack of hugging, the lack of smiles of passerby’s at the grocery store, no dance class, missing family in other states, and just all of it. On top of that, I took on extra work, and have been working more than I have since residency, and my dog got fleas. Dang pandemic made me forget his flea meds, and wham, fleas everywhere. Somehow, it was this flea issue that actually pushed me over the edge. The straw that broke the camel’s back!
Magnesium supplements and breathing exercises were not going to cut it this time. 😂 It wouldn’t have been as bad if my daughter, Annabel, wasn’t allergic to flea bites. Did you know that many people don’t react at all, but some individuals are very allergic! My sweet sensitive girl was so itchy. 😭 So, I started the war on fleas. Obviously, I got my doggie caught up on his meds, but I was terrified of using strong chemicals in the house or calling an exterminator. I put SO MUCH effort into avoiding toxins by buying organic food, and using only the safest home and body products. It took a few weeks, but I finally conquered those little sh*ts. I used mostly natural methods, but did have to use one strong product on certain places. I plan to write a blog post on the whole process, when I have more time. But, the sense of control I regained from conquering the fleas, after feeling so out of control is giving me back a sense of peace.
There are many bigger issues right in front of me, but this one small win has given me some wind in my sails, and enough left over to get on social media. I tend to let this be the first thing to go when I need more self care. Sorry! Anyway, this photo is from my first ever try at wake surfing recently, and it felt appropriate as I am re-emerging. I’ll give y’all some surfing wipeouts later in stories too. 😜 Sending everyone a big virtual hug!

Hey hi hello! It’s me again. We’re here taking care of a mix of sick patients and non “sick” patients that still need medical care. There is a shortage of protective supplies, so we’ve had people from all over the country making and sending us these these fabric masks to wear over our surgical masks to extend the life of them. 🙏🏼 I can typically use just one surgical mask all day, unless there is a super sick patient and then we are advised to completely change everything, scrubs included. It’s a wild world we are living in right now. Anyway, just wanted to let y’all know we’re doing alright alright alright. 😘 And hey, the traffic is amazing right now. 😎

This was my last dance class from before the sh!% hit the fan. We were getting closer to starting “Dance with a Doc” too, with a location and teacher selected. I’m looking forward to still bringing that to you when this is all over, but...you can dance with my favorite dance teacher in your own home TODAY (Saturday) at 1pm CST! He has the best energy, and what a great way to give hip hop a try! Head over to for the FREE on-line dance class! I’ll be there! 💃🏻
If you are trying to find me in this video, I’m in the black pants and dark tank top. I could barely walk for a week after dropping it low like 50 times. 😂

I know, I know...I’m using social media at this very moment. I just want to remind you to take breaks. One of our main forms of communication with each other right now is on our phones and through social media. It can be a great tool at times. Just don’t get sucked in all day. Pick a few times per day that you check for news updates or connect with others, but try to put your phone away for an hour or two at a time. Set a timer if you need to. Pet your dog, get some safe distance fresh air, clean a closet, cuddle your quarantine mates. This is such a weird time, isn’t it? I made a point of staying away from my phone for most of the day today, and I felt less anxious and stressed. I’m about to tune into Chris Harrison’s live though. Don’t judge. 😜 Anyway, if you’ve been following along, you know I am a big supporter of doing our part by social distancing. Hope you are all holding up okay! Sending virtual hugs! ✨
