Hospice care is built on a simple, profound philosophy: when cure is no longer possible, care matters more than ever. It’s not about giving up. It’s about shifting the focus from fighting illness to living fully and comfortably in life’s final chapter.

Watch as Hospice Austin Director of Education and Training Diana Wagner talks about the core philosophy behind hospice care.

As we step into 2026, Hospice Austin CEO Herb Dyer is looking ahead with purpose and gratitude.

This year, we’re deepening our commitment to exceptional care by expanding staff education and launching new training resources. Every member of our clinical team is continuing their journey toward becoming a Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, an investment that strengthens the support we provide to patients and families.

In 2025, Hospice Austin became a Level One partner with We Honor Veterans, offering veteran‑centric education for our staff and volunteers. In 2026, we’re excited to grow this program even further.

None of this is possible without you. Thank you for standing with us and supporting our mission.

As we step into a new year, I find myself reflecting on the countless moments of compassion and courage I witnessed in 2025. One moment that stands out took ...

As the new year arrives, there’s so much pressure to set resolutions — to do more, be better, start fresh. But when you’re grieving, that mindset can feel impossibly heavy. Grief changes the way we move through time. It shifts our energy, our capacity, and our sense of who we are.

If you’re grieving, you don’t need to reinvent yourself on a deadline. You don’t need to “bounce back.” You don’t need to match anyone else’s pace.

Join Hospice Austin on January 15th at 11am to learn about how setting your intentions for the new year can help your grief journey.

A patient at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House recently shared a heartfelt wish: he hoped to reconnect with his sister after many years without contact. With no family nearby, the thought of hearing her voice again meant a great deal, and his care team immediately began searching for a way to help.

Social Worker Cameron Sterling, CNA Shelly Sanders, RN Amy LeGrand, and CNA Phelicia Horne all worked together to track down the patient’s long‑lost sister so they could share a final goodbye.

The Grinch was certainly busy this year
He was seen far and near.
This time he was spotted up North,
bringing mischief and cheer to Pflugerville, of course

Thanks to Heritage Park Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center Five Points of Pflugerville Pflugerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Sage Valley Senior Living for letting us be part of your holiday cheer!

We are looking for a mechanic who can help this year's Season for Caring Family get their truck fixed.

Season for Caring's Hospice Austin family would love grandfather's truck to be fixed for granddaughters to use one day.

Every ornament on the Hospice Austin Memorial Christmas Tree holds a name and represents a life we were privileged to walk alongside this year. Thank you for trusting us with your care.

As our communities only nonprofit hospice, we believe that everyone deserves the love and dignity that hospice care provides.

Guess who we saw spreading cheer?
The Grinch showed up, his heart grew this year!
He tried to steal the tree (oh what a sight!),
But Cindy Lou Who helped make things right.
Now with a grin and cookies in hand,
He’s sharing joy across the land.

Thanks to the Hospice Austin team who brought holiday cheer

This year, instead of exchanging gifts at their holiday party, our amazing Chaplains chose to give back to others.

They each brought a present for a family served by Hospice Austin and had a gift-wrapping party.

The result? A trunk full of gifts delivered to create a truly special Christmas morning for one very deserving family.
