Hospice Austin offers palliative care for individuals who are still pursuing cancer treatment, providing an added layer of support alongside oncology care.

We were honored to be part of a conversation highlighting the importance of collaborative care, and how oncologists, palliative care specialists, and child life specialists work together to support patients and families—addressing both physical needs and emotional well-being throughout the cancer journey.

Last week, our hearts (and the runway!) belonged to one of our patients, Kimberley. Tech Ridge Oaks hosted a fashion show in her honor—and what a beautiful celebration it was.

Kimberley has spent many years giving back to Austin, including dedicated volunteer service at The Settlement Home for Children. Moving into assisted living didn’t slow her down one bit—she has continued to show up for others.

Known for marching to the beat of her own drum, Kimberley brings joy wherever she goes—whether she’s dancing in the grocery store or coining unforgettable phrases like “Holy Cow Bells.” She inspires everyone around her to be more carefree, more joyful, and unapologetically themselves.

Surrounded by her loving family and embraced by her community at Tech Ridge Oaks, Kimberley has become the heart of her home—checking on neighbors, delivering packages, and sharing M&Ms to brighten someone’s day.

Kimberley reminded us that the most beautiful accessory will always be a person’s kindhearted spirit.

Our leadership team is always looking for ways to give back and support the next generation working to make health care better for patients and families.

We were honored to be invited by the UT chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society - BMES to help judge their annual Design Competition, where students develop, prototype, and pitch innovative product ideas. This year’s theme focused on Supporting Caregivers—a mission especially close to our hearts.

A special thank‑you to Hospice Austin Chief Clinical Officer, Keisha Jones, who served as a judge and represented Hospice Austin so well. We’re inspired by the creativity and passion of these students and grateful to be part of shaping the future of health care.

We’re so proud to celebrate Susannah, one of our incredible Hospice Austin admission nurses, who is featured on the cover of this month’s Mueller Magazine!

Her story is a beautiful example of the compassion, kindness, and belief that there is a better way to approach death and dying. These are values that inspire so many of our care team members to do this work every day. Susannah’s journey reflects why people are called to Hospice Austin, the area’s nonprofit hospice, and the heart they bring to serving our community.

In case you needed a feel-good moment today. Once a nurse, always a nurse. 💙

This is Diana Wagner, Hospice Austin's Director of Training and Education, pictured in her nurse uniform for the Central Texas Nurse Honor Guard. When Madelaine, one of our volunteers, saw her, she had to stop for a photo—the uniform brought back memories of her own nursing days.
Madelaine spent over 30 years as a nurse and has continued her calling as a Hospice Austin volunteer. We love that this unexpected moment brought joy, connection, and shared pride to them both.
