Have you ever wondered what a heart attack really feels like—especially when symptoms sneak in quietly? The American Heart Association outlines key warning signs to watch for:

• Chest discomfort — tension, pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain that lasts more than a few minutes (or comes and goes)
• Upper body discomfort — in one or both arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach
• Shortness of breath — may occur with or without chest discomfort
• Other symptoms — cold sweat, nausea, lightheadedness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, extreme fatigue

It’s important to know that symptoms can differ between men and women.
While both may experience chest pain, women often report atypical signs, such as anxiety, nausea or vomiting, upper back or shoulder pain, and unusual tiredness or weakness.

⏰ Time matters. Don’t wait—call 911 immediately if you or someone else experiences any of these signs. Emergency services can start treatment sooner than the hospital and can even begin life-saving care on the way. https://bit.ly/41je3X1

Last month, People’s staff came together for an inspiring strategic planning session — brainstorming and focusing on five key pillars to help guide the clinic’s path forward:

1️⃣ Care Model – Delivering exceptional, patient-centered care every time.
2️⃣ Employer of Choice – Creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported, and proud to belong.
3️⃣ Financial Stewardship – Using resources wisely to ensure long-term sustainability.
4️⃣ Access to Care – Breaking down barriers so more people in our community can get the care they need.
5️⃣ Community Engagement – Building strong, meaningful connections beyond our walls.

Did you know Legionnaires’ disease is a serious form of pneumonia caused by Legionella bacteria, but it’s treatable with antibiotics? It spreads when people inhale mist from contaminated water sources like showerheads, hot tubs, cooling towers, or even windshield-wiper fluid tanks, not through person-to-person contact. Most healthy individuals exposed don’t fall ill, but those who are older, smokers, or immunocompromised are at greater risk. If you suspect exposure or experience symptoms like cough, fever, headache, muscle aches, or shortness of breath, talk to your healthcare provider right away. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4fRnrY1

🍩🏃‍♀️ Shoutout to our amazing People’s team for crushing the 7th Annual Round Rock Donut Dash 5K!

This one-of-a-kind race included a mid-run donut pit stop, because who says you can’t fuel up with a donut halfway through a 5K? 😅💪

They ran, they ate, they conquered… all in under one hour!

Stay safe this tick season! 🕷️ Follow these essential tips from the Cleveland Clinic to protect yourself against Lyme disease:

• 🚶‍♂️ Avoid tick habitats: Stick to trail centers and steer clear of tall grass, leaf litter, and overgrown areas
• 👕 Dress smart: Wear long sleeves, long pants tucked into socks, and light-colored clothing to spot ticks easily
• 🧴 Use repellents: Apply DEET or picaridin on skin and permethrin on clothing for strong tick protection
• 🧼 Check twice daily: Even on calm days, inspect your body for ticks (a tick must be attached ~48–72 hours to transmit Lyme)
• 🛁 Act fast: Shower within two hours of coming indoors, and if you find a tick attached—remove it promptly using fine-tipped tweezers and clean the bite site

🚫 Think lung cancer only affects smokers? Think again. Up to 20% of lung cancer cases happen in non-smokers due to risks like radon, secondhand smoke, air pollution, and genetics.
Non-smokers can still be at risk, depending on:

• Radon gas exposure, a leading non-smoking cause of lung cancer
• Secondhand smoke, which raises lung cancer risk by 20–30% for those living with a smoker
• Poor air quality—both outdoor pollution and indoor fumes from cooking or industrial exposure
• Genetic mutations, including EGFR mutations more common in non-smokers

Early detection saves lives — stay informed.
