Shepherd of the Valley Howland Assisted Living residents celebrated Christmas in July last week! The heat couldn't melt the Christmas cheer as residents did holiday crafts, wore their Christmas sweaters & lights, and shared the Christmas spirit with everyone in the community!

Assisted Living residents at Shepherd of the Valley Poland got together for a Summer picnic with family, friends, and tons of fun! Residents invited their loved ones to join them for an amazing lunch in the sun, cooked by our dietary team, and enjoyed entertainment from our friend, Sam Fosh!

We’re excited to announce that we’re expanding our levels of care and bringing Memory Care to Shepherd of the Valley Poland!

Memory Care is a type of Assisted Living provided in a secure environment with activities developed to address the cognitive and emotional needs of those living with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other forms of memory loss. Both Memory Care and Assisted Living at Shepherd of the Valley support independence while providing assistance with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, and medication administration.

Some key features of Memory Care are personalized care plans, a secure wing of the community, round-the-clock supervision, and more! Memory Care is also currently available at our Liberty community.

We understand the struggle of being a caregiver to a loved one and want you to know that you are not alone. That’s why, along with our friends at Buckeye Hospice and Palliative Care Services and Compass Palliative Care, we are bringing a support group to our community! Join us each month for light refreshments and conversation on topics like disease processes and end-of-life decisions, caregiver support, available resources, grief management, and more. This event is open to the public.

We have purchased a plot of land off Route 62 and North Ellsworth Avenue in Salem, which will be the location of our next Senior Living community! As the planning and design phase comes to an end, we are excited to break ground soon and begin bringing our vision to life!

Earlier this week, Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living residents at Shepherd of the Valley Howland gathered at the Mosquito Lake Dog Park for a picnic in the sun! Nothing beats a great lunch by the water, good music, good weather, and, of course, dogs!

With the Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver, qualified adults can receive round-the-clock care and support while maintaining their privacy and independence. This program pays the costs of care while the resident uses their own resources to cover living expenses.

Need a new activity to add to your calendar? Join us for "Mah Jongg & Mingle" at Shepherd of the Valley Poland! Grab three of your friends for a fun and friendly event! Experienced players are invited to join us for soup and salad while you mah jongg and mingle. These events are $6 per person and are open to the public.
