Vaccine dose #1 in the books. What a remarkable achievement. This is for my family, my patients, and my community. Thank you to the scientists, doctors, healthcare professionals and study participants for what you have done. I was brought to literal tears: of joy, happiness, and hope.

For those on the fence about whether or not you want to get the vaccine, I’d be happy to talk to you anytime. My general advice: calculate your risk of getting COVID, your risk of COVID mortality AND morbidity (aka short and long-term side effects), and weigh that against your fears/risk of side effects from the vaccine.

We are OPEN for urgent/emergency eye issues. We are also available via TELEHEALTH video appointments. Dr Smith and his staff take the utmost care to minimize exposure to our patients. We have instituted the latest in infection prevention and keep our office sanitized and clean.

The South Florida Retina Institute is open and we are currently seeing patients despite the COVID19 outbreak. We are seeing urgent/emergent cases and taking all available precautions to ensure the safety of our patients and our staff. Call us today and we will help figure out if you need to be seen urgently or at a later date. We are in close communication with ophthalmology and retina practices around the country to stay up-to-date with best practices/precautions with the current outbreak.
