Catherine O’Hara was was a living legend whose comedic timing and delivery burned her quotes into my brain and personality forever. I am deeply saddened by her passing and want to pay tribute to her (and Moira) with this skit because it is a version of something I say to my patients every day.

Honestly, I keep my mouth shut on so much of the BS I see on social media, but who does it help when we stay silent? Silent because we’re afraid of backlash? And I will most certainly receive backlash and put a target on my head for this. But, I just can’t take it anymore. The plastic surgeons who are trained to cut, not inject, and use scare tactics about injecting, or worse, trying to be heroes in the MedSpa space by touting their titles and “warning” you against anyone who’s not a board certified plastic surgeon. Private equity groups taking over practices and turning them into chains when non-medical professionals are not even allowed to own medical practices… so many loopholes… and plastic surgeons capitalizing on these loopholes by agreeing to be “Fugazi Medical Directors“ who have never set foot in these practices. A spiderweb of multiple practices under them like a pyramid scheme or multilevel buying group. Greedy and Unsafe. Every physician doing Botox “on the side” to make an extra buck like this isn’t a legitimate aesthetic medicine industry- and using their medical degree as some form of legitimacy when they have absolutely no freaking idea what they’re doing. It’s commercialized McDonald’s Drive Thru Injections. It’s insanity in this field right now.

The heavy brow Angry Bird look is soooo overdone and many providers learn this technique from day one and never seem to learn anything different. Too many providers are starting to inject Tox "on the side" or adding it to their completely unrelated practice (think Urology, Gynecology, Allergy, you name it!) and injecting according to the Tox 101 training or sales reps. It is very important to approach each person's face with curiosity, knowledge of anatomy, and knowledge of the anatomy of dynamic expression in order to tailor your injections for the most natural results.

❌Why you should NOT follow Tox 101❌

Relying on a basic, one-size-fits-all method to treat faces that are inherently unique is a recipe for poor, ineffective results.

It is no exaggeration that I wouldn’t have made it through the past six years without this woman by my side. We’ve spent most of every single day together for the past 6 years and have been through some of life‘s most challenging times together. It sounds cliché, but there are simply no words to express what she means to me and how honored I am to witness her journey and to have her in my life. She’s the type of person that makes every day better just by being in it. Lip Rescue Part 1:

For this lip rescue, a detailed assessment shows that, often, "filler migration" starts with poor placement, and is exacerbated by adding more filler on top of bad filler. Injecting a hydrophilic gel substance into the subcutaneous tissue/fat around the lips, into the philtral region, and ergotrid (the area above the lip) is basically an open system, and not a closed, contained system. Additionally, the subcutaneous tissue and fat does not have a lot of vasculature or dynamic movement such as muscle and mucosa to drain- the gel can remain suspended in this anatomical region for years. Without proper knowledge, or care, these patients often go from provider to provider unhappy with their lips, asking for the next injector to "make them look better" only to have the next injector pile more filler on top with no knowledge of how to fix it (or worse, only caring about making money from more lip injections) .

❌ Use thick filler in soft lips
❌ Use the same type of filler for all lips
