Today, the City of Avon VFW and Mayor Jensen proudly presented plaques to the veterans of St. Mary of the Woods to acknowledge and honor their dedicated service. We are deeply grateful for their commitment and sacrifice to our country. Thank you for your service!

Our condolences to the families impacted by this tragedy in our community. Our campus, team members and residents alike, continues to Pray for our neighbors as we remember the sacrifices they make daily to protect our community.

The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office joins the City of Lorain in mourning the tragic loss of Officer Phillip Wagner.

Officer Wagner, only 35 years old, gave his life in service to his community,a sacrifice that words can never fully honor. He was not only a dedicated officer, but a husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His impact reached far beyond the badge, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and served alongside him.

We extend our deepest condolences to the men and women of the Lorain Police Department and to Officer Wagner’s loved ones. We stand with you in grief, in remembrance, and in support.

Rest easy, Officer Wagner. Your watch is over. We will carry your legacy forward with honor.

We are excited to announce our partnership with Saint Stanislaus Catholic School in Cleveland's Slavic Village! St Mary of the Woods is collecting school supplies for the students they serve. A list of much needed supplies are listed below. Donations will be collected till August 14th. It is our pleasure to serve and bless others with our hearts and giving spirit. Please join us in donating!

Saint Therese at St. Mary of the Woods is honored to have our very own Mary Lou Swinerton featured in the July/August issue of Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine. As chaplain, Mary Lou brings warmth, compassion, and spiritual care to our entire community, embodying the heart of our mission every single day.

From leading prayer and organizing Communion visits to simply being present in everyday moments, she offers comfort and connection to residents, families, and staff alike. We are so grateful for the way she ministers with grace, dignity, and joy.

We were deeply honored to welcome The Most Reverend Edward Malesic, Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland, for a special Mass last week at Saint Therese - St. Mary of the Woods. His presence brought such joy and meaning to our community. Residents, staff, families, and friends gathered together in faith and fellowship—it was truly a memorable and uplifting experience.
