Inpatient rehabilitation hospitals provide intense speech, physical and occupational therapy to prep

We offer specialized treatment programs for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation and orthopedic injury as well as other injury and illness. Our rehabilitation programs are centered around the individual needs of each patient to improve health, function and quality of life. Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities differ from other post-acute options most notably in the amount of therapy offered and medical oversight provided. We offer specialized therapy, rehab-trained nursing care, rehabilitation physician involvement and disease state management tailored to our patient population. Our patients receive at least 3 hours of therapy at least 5 days each week.

Practical Nursing Students clinical experience at UH Avon rehab Hospital

The Lorain County Community College (LCCC) Practical Nursing Program senior Practical Nursing students returned for their clinical experience. The student experiences included learning about nursing care in the acute rehabilitation setting and the interdisciplinary plan of care goal process for patient independence. The students stated it was a great experience to participate in the team conference process, learning wound care and the focus of teaching patients and their loved ones as they prepare for home.

The students are participants in the UH Earn and Learn program which is a pilot project developed by the University Hospital (UH)-Elyria Medical Center (EMC) a joint venture partner.

We truly enjoy partnering with LCCC and look forward to our continued partnership!
