For 11 years, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has collaborated with the National Council for Mental Wellbeing to offer the Behavioral Health Training Institute (BHTI) for Health Officials Program. Together, they provide training and technical assistance around mental health and substance use challenges to state, tribal, territorial, and local health officials.
This year, the BHTI is a 7-month program for 19 selected grantees from across the United States. Representing Indiana is a behavioral health and public health team consisting of Dawn Pruitt, MBA, Grant Director from Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. and Krista Click, MSM, Administrator from Hendricks County Health Department (both pictured here). They have participated in online trainings the past several months and recently attended NatCon, the National Council's annual conference, from April 25–29 in Denver, Colorado. This year's conference focused on behavioral health, collaborative care, and increasing trauma-informed, resilience-oriented communities.
We are so excited that Dawn had to opportunity to represent Cummins and bring back important guidance and best practices for us to implement in our communities!
