The Press Release says it all! Dr. B *cheers* new state law 🇺🇸❤️🦷💙

Working in close collaboration with the CT State Dental Association, Dr. B led a grassroots effort to protect community water fluoridation💧as the most equitable 🤝 and cost-effective 💵 way to prevent tooth decay.

Fluoridation Fast Facts: 🪥
•Recognized by the CDC as one of the 10 greatest public health achievements of the 20th century
•Prevents tooth decay by 25%
•Saves $38 in dental treatment costs for every $1 dollar invested
•Expands access to primary prevention for ALL of CT residents, including the uninsured and underinsured who could not otherwise access dental care

As part of the advocacy campaign, Dr. B made fact sheets, created testimony templates, and trained pediatric dental residents from UConn and Yale on how to testify. 📑

At the close of the 2025 legislative session, Governor Lamont signed this bill into law making CT the only state in the country to pass legislation affirming community water fluoridation. ✍🏼

Happy Administrative Day!

You may have seen our Office Manager, Melissa, covering the front AND the back. Six months ago when we unexpectedly found ourselves without a dental assistant, Melissa put on her scrubs and accepted the challenge of learning clinical skills to fill in. And she has conquered this feat!

Cristal started working the front desk in February and has charmed both patients AND parents with her bubbly personality!

Last week, I delivered the final speech for my term as President of the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative (COHI), a nonprofit organization that advocates for increased oral health equity, expanded access, and improved quality of care. 🦷🪥

I first volunteered for COHI in 2019 as a public health intern while working on the advocacy campaign for the Dental to 26 Bill. After 6 years, 2 terms as President, countless meetings during lunch in between patients or after work, and hours upon hours of writing testimony and donor letters, a lot has changed but the mission of COHI has remained the same: Oral health for all. 💙💛

The 2025 COHI Annual Session & Advocacy Event was a success because of the hard work from COHI staff and wouldn’t have been possible without the support from volunteers, community partners, and generous sponsors. ✨

December 2025 marks the end of my term, but COHI has made a mark on my life forever. 🫶🏼
