Join us at the annual Avon Lions Club Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 6th at Northgate Park. Registration begins at 7:30 am, is free and includes bait. All children must bring their own fishing equipment and be accompanied by an adult. There will be trophies for the largest fish caught by category. Raffle prizes will also be available with the grand prize, the use of a Lake Erie Crushers loge! Donuts, coffee and drinks will be provided.

Congratulations to Jessica Pendleton & Marisa Weller, recipients of the 2026 William H. Bommer/Avon Lions Club scholarships. The scholarships were presented by Chris Hammerschmidt at the annual Avon High School Senior Awards Night. At our May meeting, the Avon Lions Club presented Eric Jaworowski, with a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. This award is named after Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions Clubs International and is given to members who show a dedication to Lions and our communities. Eric has served the Lions in various officer capacities and volunteers at many events in support of the Avon community. Please join us in congratulating Eric on this special recognition.

The April 1st Application deadline is fast approaching! The Avon Lions Club is proud to sponsor the Avon Lions Club-William H. Bommer Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was developed by the members of Avon Lions Club to honor and remember the last charter member of the club for his selfless devotion to Lion-ism and the Avon community. Bill Bommer, Sr. was a strong and active member of the Avon Lions Club for over fifty (50) years and an outspoken believer in getting involved in making Avon a better place to live for all.
The Club will award two (2) $3,000-dollar scholarships based on various information provided in the application, financial need, declared major, educational goals, etc. Final acceptance and approval of any Avon Lions Club scholarship requires that the recipient attend a scheduled Club meeting to meet members of the Club.
To be eligible for scholarship consideration, the applicant must be a current high school senior, scheduled to be a May or June graduate, and must satisfy the following criteria:
(1) Must be a student at Avon High School; or
(2) Must be a resident of the city of Avon enrolled in LCJVS or in a private or parochial school; or
(3) Must be an immediate family member and of an Avon Lions Club member in good standing.

Round 1 = 32 winners @ $10 each
Round 2 = 16 winners @ $15 each
Round 3 = 8 winners @ $20
Round 4 = 4 winners @ $50 each
Final 4 = 2 winners @ $70 each
