I am Dr Nardi’s daughter Faith and I had an unmedicated home birth. I went into labor on Saturday March 14th around 6pm. From the beginning I had very intense contractions three minutes apart for my entire labor. I had 52 hours of labor.
Around 3 hours in I started having very intense pain in my lower back with every contraction. My midwife was very concerned when she heard I was having back labor because that means the baby is not in an ideal position and was “sunny side up.” My back labor was so painful I needed someone giving me strong counter pressure on my lower back for every contraction.
After 24 hours I hadn’t progressed at all, I was only at 2cm and my baby was stuck in an uncomfortable position. I had tried many things to move the baby; yoga ball, peanut ball, walking, crawling, stares, the miles circuit and nothing was really helping. After 43 hours of very painful back labor I was only at 5cm. I was feeling very discouraged, in conversation my midwife said “too bad you don’t know a chiropractor” I replied, “We do! My dad is a chiropractor”!
My dad came to my house and adjusted me to help my body help my baby move into position. He first had me lay on my back and adjusted me in between contractions, he then adjusted my back while I was standing up leaning against a wall. After getting adjusted I felt a little released from some of the tension in my body. Within 30 minutes I was at 9cm and my water broke and things progressed very fast.
Dr Nardi’s granddaughter Natalie Clark was born at 10:06 on Monday March 16th! My dad’s adjustment helped so much and I feel very strongly that his adjustment is what helped my baby move into position and come out. For my next baby I plan on getting adjusted throughout my entire pregnancy and when I go into labor. I strongly recommend chiropractic care during pregnancy and labor!
