Happy, Healthy You - Put Yourself First

Do you have the habit of taking care of everyone else and putting yourself in last place? It is easy to do as we carry so many responsibilities as employees, moms, partners, friends, etc. It is vital that we set healthy boundaries and take care of ourselves too. It is the philosophy of putting on the oxygen mask on yourself first if there’s an emergency in a plane. It makes logical sense but having that transmit into real life actions is another thing entirely. One of the hardest life lessons can be to say no (or not yet) to others if needed, while saying yes to yourself. Putting our needs first can literally mean the difference of living a longer, healthier life. It can also mean reaching your weight loss goals, once and for all.

Do you struggle to nurture yourself but have friends who do not hesitate to take care of their needs first. What is the difference? The answer might not be an easy one but maybe they consistently make healthy choices daily. The more you take care of yourself, the more the self destructive behaviors become a thing of the past. Usually when you learn to set healthy boundaries with food and self care it often translates to setting them in all areas of life including work and relationships. I feel a lot of us women can easily fall into the routine of neglecting ourselves. We are loving caretakers and nurturing by nature, or nurture everyone else. Why not practice a variety of things, big or small, such as: take the time to make healthy nourishing meals; if you are are struggling emotionally, write your feelings down or talk to a trusted friend to gain clarity and emotional support; move your body everyday in a way you love; prioritize getting enough sleep each night; guard your time and be ok with saying no; make time to connect with healthy, supportive friends. In the end, daily choices of self care and nurturing yourself help us to show up as an even better version of ourselves.

Living a healthy, vibrant life takes effort but it is so worth it. We hope you put yourself first for a happier, healthier YOU!

Happy, Healthy You - Strong Mind

Do you recover quickly from difficulties? Have an inner strength and strong mind? A strong mind (resilience) can help us be better equipped to get through challenging times, enabling us to bounce back from adversity and obstacles. You can emerge from your trials stronger. Researchers say that it’s not only big challenges that require resilience. Even day-to-day stress can take a toll on your health. That is why it’s important for you to build a strong mind, no matter how trivial or how serious your problems may be.

All of us feel discouraged at times, the key is to not allow our circumstances to keep us down. Feeling gratitude will usually help someone to recover from an occasional, much needed pity party. It takes a strong mind to be able to roll with the punches. Being self aware and honoring your feelings is advantageous. The gift is being able to set your feelings aside, letting go of disappointment both emotionally and mentally. You can grow and adapt to your new normal. Reaching out and comforting others will most times distract us from our own pain. It’s human nature to feel better after helping someone else. If our lives have been irrevocably changed, it can help to focus on what we can control instead of what we can’t. Focusing on the positive aspects of our life and being thankful will lead to a sense of inner joy. And the good news is, no one can take that joy away.

Another important aspect is a healthy view of our mistakes. Mistakes are a realistic and natural part of life. The Power of Resilience states that if you want to lead a resilient life, “you must recognize that mistakes and failure are a natural occurrence . . . Your choice is the manner in which you respond to these events.” Unfortunately, at times we can beat ourselves up with negative, destructive self talk. It’s important to acknowledge ourselves for all the things we are doing right in our lives. We can always choose to be better. Life is unpredictable. We cannot learn to succeed in life without experiencing occasional setbacks. You can develop a happier, healthier and stronger mind.

Happy, Healthy Mind - Reflection

We are passionate and committed to helping you lose weight successfully; and invested in your journey as a whole. We know that weight loss success isn’t just about our physical health, but emotional and mental health too. We recognize that all aspects of our health go hand in hand and are very intricately connected to each other.

Moments of self reflection are important. Use your time proactively to reflect and improve. Look back on the ups and downs of your life and give yourself permission to acknowledge how far you have come and your personal growth. Life can bring pain, and if we work through our pain we can achieve the end result of forgiveness of others, and most importantly, ourselves. It also affords us the chance to make strides to improve ourselves and live in the present moment. Our minds can easily become jam packed with the emotional loads we carry with us through decades of living. This mental clutter can impede our emotional growth. Slowing down and feeling our emotions rather than using food can be difficult; but it is a worthwhile gift we give ourselves. We will start to recognize if we numb out with emotional eating. Honestly, self reflection takes courage. Tuning in and listening to your inner self, while working through your story can be compared to cleaning house. The chapters of our lives and experiences can be likened to a multi level home with many rooms. Sometimes we can become so busy with our obligations, we don’t take the time to declutter and clean out the old garbage from our various rooms and floors. Or we can work on bagging up the garbage halfway, but fail to dump it into the garbage can. When we make the effort to process old emotions, we can finally release them and let them go. This can free us to no longer hold onto the pain of our past. We will feel lighter, happier and more focused on living our lives with intention. We will be living a life of freedom from fear. It will set us free to approach the new chapters of life with a newfound excitement for our future.

We hope this will help you reflect on who you truly are and transform into a happier, healthier you.
