Pray for Zach

Pray for Zach Son of Wendy Breeland Walden - to keep people updated on Zach’s care and progress.

Not my words, but so so true…

If you haven’t ever
held your child in your arms
while machines breathed for them,
counting seconds between each rise of their chest
like prayers you were afraid to finish,

I hope you know how lucky you are.

If you haven’t ever
whispered between sobs bargains to God
in a hospital room at 3 a.m.,
promising everything you are
for just one more heartbeat,

I hope you know how lucky you are.

If you haven’t ever
curled your body around theirs
in a narrow hospital bed,
careful of wires,
afraid to sleep
in case their numbers changed,

I hope you know how lucky you are.

If you haven’t ever
stared at a ventilator
like it was both savior and thief,
hating the sound
yet fearing the silence more,

I hope you know how lucky you are.

If you haven’t ever
held your child down for labs,
apologizing while they cried,
letting them believe
you were part of the pain
because it was the only way to help,

I hope you know how lucky you are.

If you haven’t ever
measured time in test results
instead of sunsets,

I hope you know how lucky you are.

If you haven’t ever
celebrated things
other parents barely notice,
a stable oxygen level,
a fever that finally broke,
a discharge paper in your shaking hands,

I hope you know how lucky you are.

Because normal parenting
is loud and messy and exhausting,
but it is sacred in its ordinary.

Bedtime battles.
Untouched vegetables.
Shoes on the wrong feet.
Toys on the floor.
A child calling “Mom” or “Dad”
for the hundredth time.

These are miracles
disguised as inconveniences.

So if you haven’t ever
begged the heavens
to let your child live,

hold them a little longer tonight.

If you haven’t ever
slept beside hospital rails,

be grateful for your crowded bed.

If you haven’t ever
feared a machine going quiet,

listen closely to their laughter.

And please,
don’t take the normal for granted.

Because for some of us,
normal was once a prayer
we weren’t sure would be answered.

Yesterday was 3 months post accident. The days after when Zach’s life hung in the balance. I don’t know the why or how but he is here with us and he is recovering. We are all so grateful to the medical professionals assigned to his care. We are all so grateful for the hugs, prayers, support, and the listening ears. I am grateful to Zach for as he says “ just lying there”. We are all blessed to all the visitors to the hospital, LTAC, and TIRR. Thank you for taking the time to come see Zach and visiting with his family. Thank you for adding him to your prayer list. We are all forever grateful.

Please pray for the Ashley Renfro Family and the Amber Townsend Family.

Prayers are always needed.🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

Zach is in Houston for his Neuro Rehabilitation. He will be there a few weeks; he has his phone so you can message him. He is REALLY wanting to go home so distractions from his situation would be helpful. Please don’t encourage him to walk out as he would not need any proding! I am amazed at his progress. He continues to be miraculous in his recovery by Gods grace! Praying he can continue outpatient rehabilitation in Waco soon. 🙏

I stayed last night with Zach. Wow, this boy is so ready to get better! Surely only Gods grace has been able to heal him - it truly is miraculous to see his progress. He can now stand up with minimal assistance and take steps with small supports. Hopefully, the trach will be out this week and then back to Waco for more inpatient rehabilitation!!! Praise Jesus! God is good!!!🙏🙏🙏.

We had a great visit with Zachary today. He is making great strides literally. He took about 40 steps with assistance during PT today! Working on getting rid of his vent. Keep him in your prayers please as he journeys this difficult path to independence. 🙏🙏🙏

Zach is talking in sentences.

Zach will be doing a trial run off the ventilator starting at 5 pm today. This will be his 1st time disconnected from the vent since 4/21/23. He has been doing CPAP and his medical team feels he is ready. My mom is with him at this time. We need your prayers and support! You got this Zach!!❤️
