The Athletics Department at Azusa Pacific University is offering an Intern Athletic Trainer position within the Sports Medicine program for the 2023-24 year. Specific sport responsibility is anticipated to be Men's Soccer & Baseball but is subject to change as needed. Traditionally this has been a Graduate Intern position with an associated tuition waiver which is still available if desired, but is not required (continuing education opportunities provided and paid for under the approval of the Head Athletic Trainer if not). If opting to enroll in an APU graduate program it must fit within the time requirement of the position and the Intern must meet application requirements. The most common programs are the M.S. in Physical Education in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science, and the M.A. in Leadership in the Department of Leadership and Organizational Psychology. Review of applications will begin in December and the positions will remain open until filled. Contracts will start around August 1st of each year. These are two-year appointments. Qualifications to Apply
You must possess a bachelor’s or master's degree in Athletic Training from a BOC accredited college or university.
You must be BOC certified or eligible for certification.
You must have a current CPR/First Aid certification.

Job Description and Responsibilities
Responsible for the daily medical coverage, travel, and health care of assigned APU intercollegiate athletic teams. Specific assignments will be determined. They will also assist with the drug testing programs, education programs, and in supervision, instruction, and evaluation of athletic training students. They are responsible for medical documentation of all evaluations, treatments, rehabilitations, and referrals. Graduate Interns will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Sports Medicine facilities.
Salary
This position will receive an average salary of approximately $20,000 over a 10-month period. This will be paid at the current CA hourly minimum wage. Payment will be issued bi-weekly with applicable taxes withheld. Additionally, if opting in for the Masters degree then a full-tuition waiver will be given, but if not then continuing education opportunities will be provided and paid for under the approval of the Head Athletic Trainer.
Arrival Date
You should arrive in the Azusa area and settle into housing prior to August.
